Nice! Kid's a dangerous return man

Notes:
Also played basketball as a New York prep. Redshirted in 2007. Appeared in 13 games in ’08, making two catches for 11 yards (5.5-yard average) and zero touchdowns. Saw action in all 13 contests, grabbing 5-35-1 (7.0) in ’09. Led the Bulls in receiving in ’10, hauling in 50-690-5 (13.8) in 12 games (10 starts). Did not start against Ball State or Eastern Michigan (coach’s decision for not playing to his full potential). Started 11-of-12 games in ’11 and led the team in receptions with 60-615-2 (10.2). Did not start against Akron because Buffalo started three tight ends and a fullback. Has one career fumble.
Positives:
Terrific size — has a big frame with room for added bulk. Long arms and a big wing span. Has a big catching radius and plucks with his hands. Uses his body to gain positioning. Good character. Durable.
Negatives:
Needs to get stronger. Average strength and suddenness to combat press coverage — does not gain an advantage off the line. Runs upright. Chops his steps to break and rounds off some cuts. Average flexibility. Inconsistent in traffic and can do a better job attacking the ball. Technique and physicality as a blocker leave something to be desired. Was shut down by Tennessee. Inconsistent practice habits.
Summary:
Lean, high-cut, long-levered “X” receiver who could be effective running digs, outs, posts and slants but is a developmental size-speed prospect who has to prove he can separate consistently. Practice-squad candidate.

TT is a god!!!!
That is just ridiculous.

It almost doesn't seem fair Boris.
BUT... there is alot to be seen and determined at this point.
Great picks, fast, instinctive, or several Tarzans.
In TT I trust. I don't see many Janes here.

Of course, all we need is for most of these guys to be solid players, and production from the higher-round picks. It's my hope some of the younger guys will be able to mature for a year or so and not be in over their heads until they're ready to play, in a rotational role perhaps.
It's not without some risk, however. It may just be a sign of the times, and other/all teams face the same problem, but it appears the majority of our picks this year have some injury history; a couple of them significant. I'd rather they be able to contribute in some role as opposed to having to spend a year on the IR.
None of this detracts from the picks and UDFA acquisitions this year. It may be the best overall draft for TT to date, who appeares to be maturing like a fine wine. I hesitate to call it brilliant, but it's difficult not to.

Like Tyler, the USC running back. Practice squad.
I like to see them play first before designating a roster spot.
Love the bios of the WRs signed. Lots of raw talent; guys that can run like deer.
Duane Bennett, the RB from the Golden Goofs, might be a gem find, too. He runs hard and has some quicks. I'll be watching to see if he gets the coaches eyes.

I thought that they'd try and add another QB.

Depends on what Tyler shows up. Parade All American that arrived at USC with a big bag of entitlement. Started pouting from the start when Joe McKnight and Staphon Johnson got the bulk of the carries. Got worse when CJ Gable arrived.
He's a talented guy that's let his attitude get in his way. He should have been the #1 back in 2011 but plenty of people identified him as one of the Trojans that kind of half assed it after the sanctions were handed down. Curtis McNeal ended up as the feature back. It's also why guy's like Barkley and Perry are viewed as solid guys and team leaders.
If he shows up with the right mind set he'll remind a lot of people of a shiftier, quicker Ryan Grant and has a shot of making the team. If he brings his attitiude he'll be out of town fast.
Fo sho ChilliJo
11 of 14 UFA's are offensive guys.
Just some more guys that are expendable come sept.maybe two will make the team this year.
You're right Chili Jon. I read about that in LA Times. I was just looking at it from the talent standpoint. This is probably his final shot at stardom, making something of himself as a football player. He has the physical tools.
I'm disappointed that we didn't sign Adrian Hamilton OLB from Prairie View. 22.5 sacks this year - great stats. With all of our pass rush shortcomings, he would have been a real bargain if he'd worked out well.
I'm sure they know about him but you can't sign everyone.
Adrian was scooped up by the Cowboys.

I think he has the most up side;
Sean Richardson, SS, Vanderbilt – 6’2″ 216lbs, 4.43 40yd dash time -
Was the 12th ranked safety with a “7th round” grade by NFL Scouting
Good size & some speed.

I don't know what that means.
Too bad about Hamilton. From what I've seen and read about him, he's a lot more like Packer People than one of "Them Cowboys."
But then, he probably grew up a Cowboys fan, huh? Oh well . . . . .

You need more than a photo, Henry:
What a fantastic crop for competition in training camp. Can't wait.
Thank you MasTTermind. It's fantastic to be a Packers fan and to be in the yearly hunt for Titletown's next Lombardi trophy.
See you later Packer Buddies.

had the same type of conversation this morning.
I remember years ago thinking "we should trade for that guy", "wonder if we can get that guy in FA", "hope the GM picks this guy in the draft".
now... I just sit back confident and watch the pieces come together. sure, it's never as perfect as all that but it's lightyears from the Parins years.

If anyone was wondering why the UFA's aren't on the Packer website (like I was) :

quote:I've been looking for undrafted free agents that the Packers signed and haven’t seen any. Did we sign any?
The Packers don’t release the names of the undrafted free agents they’ve signed until those players have passed their physicals, because that is a condition of the contract. The rookies are due in Green Bay late next week, at which time they will undergo physical examinations. continue
I also thought this was interesting:
quote:Years ago, the Packers were part of a group of teams that pooled scouting resources, similar to BLESTO. Do they still pool their scouting with other teams?
The Packers are a charter member of the “National” scouting combine. Nineteen other teams are members of “National;” six teams belong to BLESTO. Six teams remain independent. Oakland has long been an independent, but I hear the Raiders are joining “National.”
Never knew that.
Who are BLESTO & the National?

quote:The expenses of scouting are shared to save time and money. Teams share initial evaluations and workout information as a baseline starting point, hence the phrase "Scouting Combine." This is a practice steeped in history.
Membership responsibilities includes over $100,000 in annual dues and the assignment of at least one scout to the group.
As scouts evaluate the current class of seniors visiting schools' pro days, they often work out underclassmen for future draft years. This data and other information is presented at meetings (usually in Florida) about two weeks after the current draft.
The BLESTO and National reports are published from these meetings. These reports serve as a both starting point for the lengthy evaluation process and also a rough guide as to where players are regarded by the group.
Some teams assign their most junior scout to the job of BLESTO/National regional rep, and the best ones are usually promoted or headhunted away from the role in short stint. This instability with the reps (and the lack of evaluating the senior season) can and will affect the accuracy of the reports.
There have been many infamous rankings over the years, including 2003 overall pick QB Carson Palmer not appearing in either publications top 25 players. The lists leak and become common knowledge among interested parties such as player agents and draft gurus.
As a tool, the organizations fill a need by presenting a starting point for the twelve month cycle based on information that would be hard to keep secret. General managers are often quoted as saying the medical and interview aspects of the combine event are more important than the times, which at that point are common knowledge. continue

quote:Sean Richardson left Linden Thursday headed for Green Bay. The Linden High alumnus and former Vanderbilt strong safety was intent on turning his non-drafted free agent status into a full-fledged NFL roster spot.
“We weighed out all the options about what was the best possibility where I could play right away and have a good chance of making the team. It came down to the Arizona Cardinals and the Green Bay Packers and I chose Green Bay.”
The decision proved a rather easy one for Richardson, who took into account the stability of the franchise as well as the opportunity available to him to make the roster before opting to take his talents to the legendary Lambeau Field.
“Green Bay is one of the great historical teams and it is just an honor to be able to represent them. The success that they have had recently is also a big plus. I’m excited and I can’t wait to get up there and get to work,” Richardson said before departing for Wisconsin. “I talked to a few of the coaches and they said with my versatility I can play linebacker and safety. When I get there, they are going to have me learning both positions. They said I can play outside and safety, and even nickel in nickel defense and special teams.” continue

dare I say the second coming of Bishop?
even tho Moses is currently an OLB, I could imagine Bishop and Moses being one helluva force as the ILBs.

“I’m not the fastest guy, I’m not the most athletic guy, I just have to do things right. And for me, learning and being able to grow each day is what’s gotten me to this point, and hopefully it can continue for years. The more experience you get in this league, the more things you see, I try to be a student of the game, work hard and be a better me every day.”
