There was another rumor about 2 weeks earlier he told the FO "my heart isn't in this". No idea if true or not, but once again the Jags are an ongoing clusterfu**.

And while early, they have to be concerned with Lawrence's very uneven debut. I didn't see the Meyer video of him at the bar with a chick clearly not his wife, but it's a bad look period.  Especially for a team that's 0-4.

Urban's "health" status for the Jacksonville job probably is more tied to how much USC is willing to give him to take over that program than it is to Trevor Lawrence's development.

In the Sunday night game last week when they took the big lead and had a chance to go up big in the first half, he kept trying to run the QB draw on 3rd down. It was like he was treating Lawrence the way he played Tebow in Florida, or any of his QBs at Ohio State. If Urban had Lamar Jackson or Kyler Murray he'd be better off within his system than a Justin Herbert, Andrew Luck type he has in Lawrence.

He had vastly superior athletes at Florida and Ohio State so he could spread the field and his OL would take care of the opposing front 7 and the QB draw would get 5-8 yards every play. In the NFL, almost everyone's got elite athletes at every position (except for the Packers at ILB?), and things like that stop working after a defense sees it a few times.

At this point, if Urb survives the season in Jacksonville I’d be surprised.  He’s used to going into about any game knowing that he had the better team.  Not anymore.

I’m sure he will develop health issues and mysteriously step down and then accept a new college gig by the end of the business day.

An opportunity in Madison is possible.

While I am not a pollyanna and am under no illusion that Wisconsin hasn't done some questionable recruiting/academic stuff in the past, there is no way Urban would take that job. He's a sleazeball who won at Florida by recruiting a bunch of elite guys that were notorious for disciplinary problems (Hernandez, the Pounceys) even at the NFL level. He won at OSU because he was recruiting elite talent with some help from the boosters there as well. He didn't have to worry too much about ethics at those places.

If Urban takes another job, it will be at a place where he can essentially knows he will win most of his games before the schedule even comes out by getting a bunch of 5-star recruits. To do that, you have to push the envelope on recruiting violations. While some of the Badgers issues this year are coaching, player development, and scheme-related, one reason they have never gotten over the hump to play for a national title is that they draw the line on some of that stuff. Michigan has the same problem in that academic side still matters more than it does at SEC schools, etc.

If he comes back, it's probably at USC

Do we know if JL wants to be a head coach?  Do we know he would be good at it?

Nick, down at Alabama will turn 70 this month.  Let’s say he wins it all and says what a time to pack it in.  Who better to make a splash than Urban.

Wonder if Jim Leonhard is regretting his decision.    41 given up to Notre Dame and 38 to Michigan.

I didn't see the Michigan game, but in the ND game, 14 points came via Pick-6's and another 7 on a kick return.

2 Things that really turned me off to him ; 1) Hernandez. Now bringing him into a locker room of grown men is one thing (NFL), but bringing him on campus with father's sons and daughters at a very good school academically is something else. 2) Story of Percy Harvin receiving a punishment of running stairs for something he'd done by position coach .... basically told the coach to F off, wouldn't do it, and Meyer did nothing about it.

While Leonhard's defenses have had better days, they kept the Badgers in the Michigan game for a long time.

In the first half, they gave up a 59 yard TD drive after the special teams gave up a 25-yard net punt. They gave up 3 points when the Wisconsin special teams fumbled at their own 5, and the defense held them to -4 yards on 3 plays. The last FG drive of the half was 9 plays, 36 yards. That's a good half of defense when your offense is doing worse than nothing (12 plays, -17 yards, 4 3-and-outs on the first 4 drives).

In the second half, the offense opens with a 3 and out (for -8 yards), and Michigan scores on a 4th and 1 for a TD. The next two Michigan scoring drives are after two Badger turnovers. The first was a 3 play, 3 yard FG drive after a Wolf fumble and the second was a 35 yard drive after a Wolf interception. The other Michigan scoring drive was in garbage time up 31-10.

So, the Wolverines had 7 scoring drives. One was in garbage time, and four others were drives of less than 36 yards. Two others were 59-yard drives. The defense wasn't elite, but it wasn't the main issue.

Next to Saban who would you rather have as your college HC if your end goal is to win a national championship?   Meyer is probably that guy.

He brings a lot of drama and baggage but it’s part of the deal.  Not a whole lot different than Bobby Knight or Tony LaRussa being insufferable pricks but hey, they won a lot as well.

There is no question if he were hired in Madison he would win and win big.  But it will never happen.  He’d be better off at a place like USC or Texas where they have a lot of past greatness and are willing to push the envelope.

The still image doesn't do justice to the twerking going on in the video. Urban Meyer is the same guy who covered up serious domestic abuse issues with an assistant at OSU (not to mention the stuff FLPacker brought up). The dancing is not a crime, but for a guy who markets himself as a "Christian" coach with Tebow as his ideal player, it's a huge amount of hypocrisy.

Try to imagine Nick Saban getting caught on tape doing something like this (or just doing something like this). Lane Kiffin, Alvarez, Bielema, a Bowden, and many others, sure; but not Saban.

That's the difference between Saban and Meyer, the two most successful college coaches of this century.  I'm sure there are some under-the-table payments at Alabama, but Saban wouldn't do this type of stuff or wouldn't put up with a Percy Harvin type pulling anything on an Assistant Coach. Some players probably want to go play for Urban because he has the reputation for allowing guys to get away with that stuff.

How dedicated is Urban to his craft. Practicing QB snaps with a co-ed. A real role model, our Urb.

Finger gun to the butthole outside the jeans was a classy move by Urb. He laid the foundation for his early exit in his PC today admitting that he’s “concerned” that the situation could undermine his ability to lead the team.”

I think you’re  confusing Hernandez with Ted Bundy. But yes, Meyer covered for him too…and Bundy was at Florida State.

Urban's "record" at Florida.

Other sources indicate 41 of his guys were arrested during his time there. A lot of these weren't garden variety college male type underage drinking either. This article indicates that most of the players were represented by one lawyer. The punishments often seemed to be more severe for fringe players.

??? HUGE difference in Knight & Meyer.... Knight would never bring in the character problems that Meyer would, nor would he tolerate them.

So you are saying Wisconsin would no longer have any academic requirements for football?

Oh boy were wading into Beef territory here. It’s an innocent finger in the butthole, who here HASNT done that at least a few times to a hot 19 year at the bar who is all over you?

I would just so I could get her in bed.

Because 20 year old girls are as big a fucking idiots as 20 year old guys.

Wait.  I'm married in this scenario?  Oh, well no need for the lecture then.
