There's no denying Minn is a solid home team, and GB has had their struggles on the road. However one more loss and GB can almost kiss any aspiration of playoff football goodbye. I don't think a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers is going to let that happen this early in the season.

The loser of this game is done for the year, the winner still has a chance at the playoffs. That being said, how disappointed must viking fans be with how this season turned out? This was their "all in year", they signed their supposed "franchise QB", and fortified one of the better defenses in the NFL. What went wrong? Oh, that's right. You need some decent offensive lineman to protect your "franchise QB", and give your running backs room to run.

That said, the Tool Shed has been a house horrors for the Packers. I was there last year and it doesn't get much worse than that. Against better judgement, I'm going again Sunday. The retarded Skol chat, the freakin' Viking horn after every play, ugh.

Bob McGinn was on a radio interview yesterday talking about modern day offensive schemes/game plans and said MM simply "doesn't believe in trickery or cleverness" when it comes to what he'll call on the field.
And he's right. I can count one hand in ALL the years MM has run this offense and the times he did anything to get creative. Using a Taysom Hill the way New Orleans does? Would it even occur to MM to use him as a WR, a RB, a TE or a QB on given plays the way Peyton does? I don't think it would even cross his mind.
MM had at one time a young, versatile WR in Cobb (Cobb played some QB in college) and Montgomery who also could have been used creatively. Never happened. Aaron Jones is sitting there under utilized and disappears for large chunks of a game.
If today's game has passed MM by (which I believe it has), it's because he simply refuses to implement modern day plays, scheme WR's open, and get the most out of his talent. And that's likely what gets him shipped out of 1265 at the end of the year.

Yep this was a Spermheads team that had their fans earlier in the year saying their D is so tough Rodgers might get seriously hurt against it. I don't care if they win because of MM, in spite of MM, if #12 pulls some magic, or if they win 2-0 on a safety. Just beat the damn spermheads.

I actually think GB has perhaps the most unique offense in the NFL...the amount of adjustments that every player has to do every play, from what I've read, is not something that is common. The problem is that it's a scheme, much like Dom Capers scheme, that is almost entirely reliant on savvy veterans to execute. We were stocked with those players in 2011 and 2014 at every level and the offense just absolutely hummed. It's a good idea, but just like we're seeing right now, things can easily fall apart when players aren't making the right adjustments.
McCarthy has been praised by other coaches in the past for how he's used players like Montgomery and Cobb and especially by Rodgers for how they schemed to deal with Zimmer's defense. I think he's innovative, or at least wants to be innovative, but for some reason he hasn't had the stones to make changes.

We gotta put pressure on Cousins so our DBs can enjoy the INT frenzy. I like how the Bears stopped the vikings' running game. We need to do that as well. It will be tough if Daniels is gone, but others can step up and stuff the viking RBs. I hope Fackrell has as big of a day as he did the last game he played. If this game ends up in a tie, or a loss, we are done. The vikings won't be in the playoffs, either, if we tie. That would give me lots to work for, in and of itself, if I were a Packer. We need to find the quick rhythm passing game to our WRs, TEs and RBs underneath the coverage. We need to feed and block for Mr Jones. Purple Crush is the flavor of the day!

A trick play (or one built on deception) is an all in from the huddle concept. There is no opportunity for adjustment. McCarthy's offense is built around flexibility until the snap. However, it seems to require PhD level smarts at every position to execute properly.

unfortunately, i see the biggest problem being a heavy run dose - no 76 means a lot of runs...and i see it getting ugly, they can combo block and move the big guys upfield to block lb's-we will need unbelievable play from our bigger lb's, i see a black/blue game. if they are stupid they will pass all day long, but if they're smart, they run all day and cook is in so...

And it’s too bad MM cannot adjust to the 2018 game the way it’s played because he really has been a professional in conducting himself and in his public interactions about his players, etc. If he could adapt and keep Rodgers’ respect, he was set for decades in GB—as long as he added a couple SBs.
