For better or worse they are stuck with Perry. Release him the next couple of years and the dead money cap hit is enormous.
In retrospect, not resigning him may have been the best move but it is what it is. Younger guys need to step it up.

Cap hit may be the best of the bad options available with Perry.
#Packers TE Jimmy Graham, dealing with not only a knee injury but also a broken thumb, is actually on track to play tonight against the #Vikings, source said, barring any complications.

Just through 2019, the dead money is lower after. Seems they built the contract with 2019 as a potential out. At most our medical staff will be tending to him for 1 more season.
Expect double digit sacks

The Packers structured Perry's most recent contract, which contained an $18.5 million signing bonus, so that they could move on after the 2018 season and actually gain salary-cap space. Perry is due a $4.8 million roster bonus if he's on the team on the third day of the league year in 2019, so if the Packers cut him before that March date they would wipe that and his $5.2 million base salary off their cap.
They would have to count the remaining prorated portion of his signing bonus against their cap, but could defer some of that by designating him as a June 1 cut. If they cut him without the June 1 designation, they would save $3.6 million off their 2019 cap. If they used that designation, they would save $11.1 million.

Buh bye.
Door. Ass.
Addition by subtraction.
The way I read Perryβs salary breakdown on Spotrac was thereβs a dead cap hit of 11MM in 2019 and about 7MM in 2020 if heβs released. Not sure it was clear on dates, but if the info was accurate that seems like a lot of money to eat if heβs not on the team.
They should pick up some $$$ if they donβt bring back Cobb and CMIII.
Appears Russ Ball did a good job.
Thanks for those details. With that in mind I would expect him to be cut this offseason with the post June 1 designation. Gute doesnβt seem to be interested in hanging on to players with βpotentialβ anymore. Itβs especially likely with Fackrell possibly hitting double digit sacks this year.
I don't know what to make of Fackrell yet. A lot of flash in the pan elements. Hopefully, it just all clicked but I do worry about his strength to get free once teams get more tape on him. Maybe he just needs to play like a slippery eel.
Heβs not a starter, heβs definitely taking advantage of being underestimated this year. I donβt think his sacks are a fluke though, heβs executing very well both with speed and quickness inside against good and bad Tackles. Again I donβt think heβs a starter and Gute would be foolish to assume he is, but I do think heβs a key part of a rotation going forward. We donβt HAVE to have an elite pass rusher like Vonn Miller or Kahlil Mack, but we need a better starting pair and a deeper bench. Pettine never had an elite pass rusher with the Jets and was fine.
Fackrellβs 3 sacks @ Seattle werent flukes. He actually flashed some technique.
Gilbert is looking more and more like the latest recipient of the Jayrone Elliot August All Star award. So it would be great to see Fackrell keep progressing.
Given King and Breelandβs inability to stay healthy it sucks GB needs to draft another ****ing corner after the Randall and Rollins disaster. But thatβs pretty much the reality.

It seems like as Good a day as any to make Minn, regret giving
Kirk (Shank) Cousins a fully guaranteed 84 million contract.
I thought it was Blair Kiel Walsh that shanked it.
so 2018 Graham is gonna play tonight on top of a bum knee and broken thumb? no thanks
bring in the Tonyan truck
#Packers CB Kevin King trying to play tonight. He's currently on the field here in Minnesota, testing out his hamstring. King has run the length of the field a few times. We'll see if he gets cleared. Would be big for GB to have its top 2 CBs vs. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen.

I don't think King matches up well with either of them.
If heβs full speed his best asset is his 4.4 speed, but if heβs slowed by a bum hamstring he doesnβt have the savvy to compensate. If he does play I hope itβs lower on the depth chart.
Randall Cobb and Kevin King are inactive for the #Packers, along with Bashaud Breeland and Raven Greene. Battered secondary will be tested early and often by the #Vikings

If thereβs anything that could make this season (to date) any worse it would be watching this team play in the all orange Broncos uniforms.
Gotta agree with Rodney Harrison re. Creativity on offense. I like Dungy but he lets the gentlemenβs coaching code cloud his assessment.

Thanks for the glasses and video. I just bought new glasses for real - the rims are not as thick or that color.

That would be his straight line speed. He struggles vs short area speed and change of direction. Both things Thielen and Diggs excel at.
He's shown that speed to keep up with receivers deep in the past and closing speed to make a play, but yes his struggles are consistently with inside breaking routes against quicker receivers.
