Perfect Storm:

- Poor Shooting %-age

- missed free throws (this especially hurts when the shots weren't going in)

- good defense by the opponent

- opponent had a hot hand at crucial times

agreed that it seemed we were pressing a bit...ugly loss still...I don't know what's wrong but we aren't hitting on all cylinders...I trust Bo will figure it out.

I would not be surprised to see a different personnel rotation soon.

Very frustrating watching last night. The Badgers try to tighten up the in the paint D and then the Cats get hot from outside and a tie becomes a blowout on about 6 trips up and down the court.  I thought this years team would not see the 8+ minute FG scoring droughts were have seen in the past but I guess not. At least we are not alone with this happening, see Ohio State and Iowa in their last games.  Jackson needs to see some bench. He sure is in a funk. Seems like Dekker is too.  Maybe they need to not look at the sports pages for a while.

“During shoot-around I did tweak my back again and he made a reference to it after the game," he said, referring to UW coach Bo Ryan. "He never asked me during the game if I was OK. I was OK.

“I’ve just got to keep working.  That’s all I can do.”

I guess that clears that up.  I was wondering during the game.  I guess if he was just more athletic.

Jackson has told Koenig to stop worrying about the possible consequences of making a mistake and just play.

maybe....

Not having had a chance to watch the game, I am curious how effectively (and how often) the Badger offense did something other then putting up outside shots.

How often did they take it to the hole?  How often did they try to disrupt the defense by an offensive player beating his man on the dribble, penetrating, and either distributing the ball or creating his own shot?

I'll bet it never once happened - or maybe once or twice max.

Well, you kind of fascinate me as well.

You seem an extremely logical person to which I would like to understand how you could interpret "black" from "white."

I refer to a post I made in the blocked topic where I prefaced my comment by saying Wisconsin averages ~15 in the country in the Bo era and I don't have any expectations they be better than that.

(You can check your response to that post.  You'll know what I mean.)

I think it's ridiculous for any fan to expect the Badgers to be better than they are.  How many universities are there and the Badgers average being the 15th best in the nation?

My point with the above was to provide an overall context.  I have no axe to grind.  My point is not being critical of the program.

Quite the contrary.

My point is if I could wish upon a star and have the Badgers have something additional to their team makeup, I want that kind of player.  Or maybe even two of that kind of player.

I couldn't ask for a better basketball program.

The post I was referring to, you (again) made an assumption about a team you have little to no concept of.  You seem confident in your assumption, that fascinates me.  It reminds me of the blind man and the elephant story.

It became very clear early on in the wildcat game that they were packing in the middle, forcing WI to shoot from the outside.  The last time they played, Bucky hit those shots and got up by 40.  At home though, they missed and missed piles of open shots.  Not forced shots, not late in the shot clock shots, just plain old open looks clanked one after the other (in fact, that isn't entirely correct, they airballed more shots than I have ever seen them do).  The play you pine for, that is Jackson's calling card and I wish he would stop doing it (at least look for the pass more often, but like I said, they were missing the kick out like mad).  In that game, Bucky shot 15-57 (26.3%) and 5-24 from 3 (20.8%).  Nothing in your assumption was correct, other than a complete failure on the offensive side of the court.

The locked topic was polluted with claims that the Badger's were not "athletic" but no one willing to point out the poor athletes.  Similarly, you asserted lack of athleticism based on some characteristics on offense that you felt Bucky lacked.  I pointed out that was ignorant, seeing as Bucky did just fine with all of the offensive characteristics you assumed they did not have, something that would be easy for someone to figure out.

I think the Badgers are well coached and posses more talent than they have in the past.  I expected next year to be the big year, but I did not anticipate Frank being so skilled in the post and Hayes being the well rounded player he is as a freshman.  For expectations to be high for a team that frequents the "top 15 team" in the nations, that doesn't seem so far fetched for me.

I'm not sure what you feel I am interpreting as black and white, other than the last 5 or 6 posts you (and some others, I'll be honest) have made in the Badger forum have been ignorant, uniformed, and in some cases moronic.  Yet, you keep plowing on.  By all means, express what you feel are deficits in coaching, recruiting, or what happens on the court (if you look at my posts, I certainly do), just don't be stupid about it (or if you are, don't take it so personally).

El Ka,

El Ka:

I'm not sure what you feel I am interpreting as black and white

Me:

I don't expect Wisconsin to be better.  Don't they average being something like #15 in the country on a yearly basis?

Do you get it, El Ka?  I DON'T EXPECT WISCONSIN TO BE BETTER!!!  I think averaging ~15 in the country exceeds my expectations!

In response, you wrote:

El Ka:

Point 2:  OK, so what?  Is 15th a problem, a bad thing?

How the heck did you interpret THAT?  (Me saying being 15th is a bad thing or a problem.)  I never said it and in fact, said the exact opposite.

Hence my black is white comment.
