It’s time.

I generally defend the use of Native American names and images as it’s clear in most cases it is intended as a compliment or a projection of strength.

But that name can’t be defended any longer.

I’m going to suggest a name (rights are available) that reflects the environment and ‘vibe” of the District of Columbia:

Washington Bullets.

I saw an honest suggestion for Washington Warthogs.  It works on multiple levels.  Old Washington history (Hogs), Warthog fighter,  Washington D.C. in general.

You're the only one who admitted it.

Unfortunately, I can hear it in my head and picturing Kiel saying "Riunite on ice, that's nice" is either profoundly funny or disturbing at any given time.

Here are some ideas.

Maybe they should call themselves "The Turkeys" - prompted me to think of that because of the discussion for one of the names in the article.  That was what Ben Franklin wanted to be our national bird.

At work we use to say "It is hard to soar with the eagles when you work with a bunch of turkeys".

And who could forget WKRP.

Might as well take the whole corporate naming trend to its logical conclusion and sell the team naming rights.
Bezos could but his logo on the helmets of the Washington Amazons.

And no, that's not sexist.  Strictly business.
