William Henderson never planned on having a long NFL career. It's not that the former Green Bay Packers fullback didn't want to achieve that level of sustainable success, but it was difficult for the 66th overall pick in the 1995 draft to imagine it turning into the 12-year journey that it did.

"I came in with the desire to make enough money to go to grad school," Henderson told FOXSportsWisconsin.com. "I just wanted to keep my student loans down and sustain myself. I had no idea I'd spend 12 years with the most storied franchise in sports. I just happened to find a niche and the Packers believed in me, and we worked well together."

I remember a lot of your great moments but my fav is you drilling Ray Lewis in a game I suspected the Packers would struggle in.

I think that was the '01 season, the years after the Ravens won the SB. I thought the Pack would struggle too, but it turned out they won pretty easily if I recall correctly.

Hendo is one of my favorites to wear the Packers uniform. I bet he can still bring it.
My favorite memory was off the field, on TV. He was a guest analyst for the draft and Kiper was bashing the Packers for their strategy and selections (obviously this was when TT was in charge). Hendo came on and quietly, respectfully, and logically, called Kiper out for being wrong most of the time, especially when he was drafted. Naturally, Hendo was never invited onto ESPN again, which is a shame.

He was excellent on TV, but I guess former players who are thoughtful and articulate don't interest the networks.

That and he probably wasn't a big enough "name." Why have a former fullback for the Green Bay Packers when you have some roided-up loudmouths who can't put a logical sentence together.
It was the year after the Ravens won the SB and claimed the best D of all time. I clearly remember 2 BAL fans who came on here and kept screaming that "you just don't understand how fast and physical the BAL D is until you see it in person", though with much more douche. Farb was lighting them up and the Packers were handling them very well all game until Randall Cunningham (what!) started bringing BAL back late in the 4th. Packers hang on for decisive win.
A co-worker originally from Baltimore brought me a newspaper clipping from that Packers/Ravens game, and I still recall the headline:
"Favre Shines Against A Dangerous Defense."

If memory still serves, I don't think the Packers were favored to win that game. Although we were potent on offense, the Ravens were expected to shut us down, and that was going to be that...

We were definitely not expected to win, or even have a legitimate chance, for that matter. The buzz was that this was the best defense the league had seen in years, and we'd have no chance against them.

I remember going to watch the game at a theatre in south Minneapolis called the Suburban World, which was owned by Packer fans and broadcast the game on the movie screen every Sunday. I didn't have much hope, but man, there were a lot of happy Packer fans walking out onto Hennepin Avenue at around 3 o'clock that afternoon. One of the best games I ever saw Tom Rossley call; he had that D completely game-planned. Favre played a damned good game that day, too, if I recall correctly.

Yep, Ravens minus 1.5.

Of the dozen or so Packers games I've seen in person, this was by far the most fun. Favre was laser-focused (27-34-337-3-0), Bubba Franks scored a TD about 10 feet from where we were sitting, and the UW marching band played at halftime and in the "fifth quarter."
