Irvin: “When we were praising Aaron Rodgers when he was moving around and making plays and we said he was the No. 1 quarterback in the league, he really had some tools around him. Here’s what happens when we have to take money from everybody to make sure the quarterback has $100-something-million contract, now, we have to give you less players to work with, and you have to make it look good. That’s where they’re falling off.

Found the article a little puzzling. The loss of both Jones and Jennings were personnel decisions that really weren't driven by money. You an argue that TT may have made a bad move but the connection to AR's contract really isn't there.
That's because it's the opinions of Michael Irvin.quote:Found the article a little puzzling.
Packers are almost $8 million under the cap. Contracts coming up that need to be extended and an escalating cap in 2015.
Irvin's pretty much an idiot so I wouldn't expect him to speak intelligently regarding matters such as salary cap management. He should stick with things he well versed in. Cocaine. Pushing off. Adultery. Speaking loudly.
Has any team won another Superbowl after paying out the big QB contract? I really don't know. I could be wrong. The Ravens, Niners, Packers haven't. Did the Pats win one after paying Brady? This is one of the problems facing Seattle next year after they have to pay Wilson. It certainly gets harder for sure. What about the Steelers and Big Ben? Same thing there?
It's a valid point by Michael.
The Colts gave Peyton a huge contract and didn't win a SB until several years later. I think the Steelers won the SB immediately after giving Big Ben 100+. The Giants did also after giving Eli his money.

It's only a valid point if you can name who the Packers should have signed that they did not because of Rodgers contract. Not Jennings, the Packers offered him more than the Vikings to stay. Not Jones, he was a #3 receiver over 30. Not somebody on defense, because nobody who left was worth keeping (including Woodson at his age) and we signed Peppers to a big contract. Inquiring minds would like to know who the missing link is that had their dollars stolen by Rodgers.
Logic is not a part of Irvins' role.
His job is to say stupid over-the- top schit that gets a huge reaction from the masses
Remember when he advocated for changing the Lombardi Trophy to the Belichick Trophy ?
Also interesting how he doesn't apply the same logic to the 49ers. After they have paid Kaperdick his money, their problem, according to him, isn't that they don't have the same playmakers because of that. It's because of coach/locker room turmoil.

You could say this about a lot of the sports analysts out there.
On the rare occasion that Irvin has a thought in his head, I doubt he would risk letting go of it in hopes of finding a better one.

Stabbing teammates in the neck...you forgot that one.
And stabbing teammates with scissors, lets not forget that. He won't talk about that, tho.
Damn, Fond Du, almost word for word
Every time I see a WR push-off & get away with it, I always say "That's a nice Michael Irvin style veteran play right there."
Almost forgot about the neck stabbing.
Cocaine's a helluva drug!!
Things that have never crossed my mind:
"I wonder what Michael Irvin thinks on this subject".
"We really need to get Iowacheese more involved with improving interracial relations."
"If only I had the empathy for the poor that you see from Kiel."
"If wish I had Stevie's football acumen."
"I'm not nearly manly enough to make my own ice cream."
Hey, I have empathy for the poor.
I hire as many of those poor shiftless SOB's as I can to do crap I don't want to do for myself.
Trickle down baby.
Kiel gave me a pair of socks once.
Loaned.
You really want those back?

Who did you hire to post on X4 ?
Oh, I write 'em myself.
That way I can write-off my computer and internet service as "community service".
Only the little people actually pay for those things.

Well, Lombardi died.

Pretty sure those things could walk back to him now.
Generations of free range assholes just tossed away.
Those socks are a new sentient being.
Every sock is sacred.
Irvin thread winds down with socks walking back to Kiel's house and likely put to work doing yard work with the payoff being laundry done by hired help. Full circle.

Especially from NFL network and BSPN.
Every sock is sacred.
Only if they are holey Packers socks.
you're obviously a catholic.
Irvin also tangled the Gene Upshaw many times when Upshaw lead the NFLPA. He thought Upshaw was not getting enough money for veterans. Now when a vet gets paid he complains. Irvin = Dofuss.

But that was the coke, not Michael Irvin.
