If the new HC assembles a real staff the results are going to piss everyone off about Mike McCarthy for wasting a lot of time.

I don't see any other teams making a silly offer for either. Seems likely, possibly necessary, they'd return. The biggest thing with Cobb is he's been a casualty of a stale offense as well. I do think he can still play and depending on who the HC/OC is will likely determine his worth more than anything. A new offense might also prevent him from getting his bell rung quite as much.
Matthews at MLB makes sense. I actually think his sack numbers would increase playing behind Daniels, Clark and Wilkerson.
I disagree on Cobb. He just doesn't have the ability to get open, even in a Wes Welker type role from the slot. He's great when the play breaks down and that's it. For a couple years now we have seen S's and LB's be able to stay with him.
Great human, amazing career as a Packer with some huge and historic moments, but he done.

I've been pissed for 3 years.
I honestly have no issue moving on from Cobb or Matthews. I just think there will be a necessity element, particularly with Matthews. I think you can put Matthews in a place to succeed with what's left in the tank. If Cobb truly lost a step, not good particularly for a slot guy.
Not to mention he just cant seem to stay healthy.

My main thought. Cobb has gotten injured more and spent less time on the field as he has gotten older. So it's a lot more than just a case of what can he do when he is playing.

I could live with Clay in the middle as a depth guy. The years of the pure speed rusher are definitely gone, and the years of going against big LTs have taken their toll on Clay. Put him in the middle where he can run and shoot the A gap on passing downs as a situational guy and he can stay in GB. (At a vastly reduced rate)
Cobb needs glue to hold him together, and just like Welker suffered a lot of injuries later; it’s tough to stay healthy in the slot. Maybe it’s time to take the chance and have him be purely a return guy. It might keep him healthier in the long run (less exposure) and he might get an explosive play now and then. He at least is more sure-handed. (At a vastly reduced rate)

Clay as a situational pass-rusher would be just fine especially under Pettine. I think Cobb is done & Rodgers will be unhappy to see his intellectual equal gone. Cobb knows the offense just as well as Rodgers.
I think Cobb has been hobbled all year, even when active. I also think the knee effected Rodger's throwing mechanics as he threw off the back foot a lot.
I think I am going to enjoy spending the next couple of months cutting and burning at the ranch.
Cobb can go. So can Graham. I think there's a place for Clay and Bulaga on the team if the price is right.
Graham was an awful investment. The other three can stay for the right price and provided they accept reduced roles. If any get injured, injury settlement and a farewell watch.
Don't tell me Jimmy Graham's stats weren't that bad this season... 55 catches, 636 yards and 2 TDs.
