Conflicting reports re. McCloughan. He still runs his private scouting service. It sounds like the Browns retained his service specifically for the 18 draft only. Scot is a huge Mayfield fan.

I didn't realize GiggleySnort has been around as long as he has.  Good stuff, like the approach of raiding PS to churn the roster in season while still putting a big emphasis on the draft.

Cutting big names and making cap space

This soft rebuild, not sure you can call it that at this point, should be a consideration in the HC approach.  This why I definitely don't want a college coach who has to prove himself while being in control of this time critical rebuild.

Unless Condi is the HC.  Then the Packers can just hire scumbag mercenaries by the boatload.

In reading that article, I think there’s a good chance all those moves happen but I really question if they bring back Tramon at nearly 5MM for 2019.   If they could get Breeland back for around that (short term deal) he’s younger and more athletic at this point.

I could see keeping Cobb, Clay & Bulaga at 1/2 the price. Especially Bulaga because they need OL desperately. Can't believe Cobb is only 28, seems like he's 35 & his rapport with Rodgers is 2nd to none. Same as it was with Jordy so I guess we'll see.

Not to quibble over the absolutely correct point made above PacklandVA, but Gute has not even been on the job 2 seasons yet (took over in January of 2018).

Anyone just looking at this 2019 defense, now full of alpha dogs and horror of horrors actual real live NFL free agents, knows that Gutey has completely abandoned whatever philosophy it was that Ted utilized between 2011 and 2017.

Can't wait to see what Gutey has in store at WR and TE (where he pretty much whiffed on Jimmy G) this offseason.

Really we are only taking about the most sensitive of posters

Rodgers, Adams, Bakhtiari, Bulaga, Clark, Aaron Jones, King, Tramon Williams, Jamal Williams, Linsley, Lowry, Fackrell, Crosby.

Im not including Martinez because he sucks. Point is there are a lot of teams that have flipped the roster but have 15-20 core players that drive everything. Teds 18 are doing that today. Gute hit pay dirt with the Smiths and Alexander. But Ted didn’t leave scorched earth. McCarthy did.

It's mostly because you're a dick.  I'm kind of disappointed there was no "Thanks Ted" in your reply.

Some pretty good players up there...

I'm actually not a dick.  It's an accurate statement.  TT was one of the best in the business for a long time.  But at the end, not so much.  Took many fans a few seasons to see that. Still think his biggest mistake as a GM was not forcing McCarthy's hand to get rid of Dom sooner.  But why rehash that story.

Just clowning.  Sheesh.

I think expectations have changed quite a bit since Harlan and Wolf brought the Packers back.  I think in general fans are a bit more jaded.  Gork has done some excellent stuff but after the TT fallout I'm not sure anyone is full homer anymore.

I think it’s pretty obvious now that there was plenty of blame to go around. TT forgot how to draft, MM’s schtick got old, and AR’s historic level of play is now looking like it’s just that....history.

Maybe he finds the magic for a few more seasons with a continued influx of talent. It worked for Bert.

Nice pick-up of Veldheer; whole league passed on him when Patriots released him.  Comes in and plays well for Bulaga, unlike the disaster this year (Light) or years past (Spriggs, et al)

Yeah, that pick up really paid off today. If for some reason Lindsley and/or Bulaga are not able to go 2 weeks from now I feel like we are still in good shape, provided no one else gets hurt.

He retired before training camp with the Patriots. Then decided he wanted to play again in November, how many teams have a roster opening that late?.

There are lots of roster transactions every week in the NFL, right up to the last week of the season.  Good teams churn their roster to upgrade.

In this case, Veldheer was signed and the Packers had a window to evaluate him before placing him on the active roster.  Then placing him on the active roster and releasing Pankey was an upgrade.

Can’t overlook Gute peeling Lazard off the Jaguars practice squad. Gute is really good at listening to his scouts and finding improved depth. Ervin is probably the best example. It was a glaring issue and addressed. Fast. Not only is the return game improved MLF has another chess piece he can move around.

They could have stuck with Shepard longer than they did or Tremon Smith but they cut bait and tried another avenue. It sure did pay off!

The ironic part was Ervin was let go by the Jags so they could use the spot to activate former Packer LB Jake Ryan from IR for week 13.  Ryan played in two games, got hurt again, and is back on IR,

So was Lazard. 😂

Who knew the Jags were so talented!
