Likely 2 games at most to start the season. I don't understand this, when the police and the district attorney's office investigate and conclude there is inconsistencies in the victims story and insufficient evidence and decline to press charges, why does the league decide to suspend anyway? There's been no indication Elliot has been uncooperative with the league either. I have no love for Elliot or the Cowboys, but this seems arbitrary and ridiculous. The NFL seems to have a "guilty until proven innocent" attitude, crazy.

Because it's easier to hate on Roger Goodell than the apparatus of the state.
Ray Rice got less punishment from the state than the original suspension from the NFL, but Hate Week targeted Goodell and the NFL for a whole bunch of reasons: class (those horrid rich spoiled athletes!), and because the people who gin up the outrage tend to like the state. It's also a hell of a lot easier to direct that outrage toward Goodell than to ask the tough question about what to do when the victim doesn't want to testify.
Pulling down a woman's top during a parade wasn't something someone being investigated for DV ought to be doing. I have to think Goodell considered both. Zeke strikes me as a bit of a dumbass.
Let see. He plays for Dallas - America's special handling team - Jerry Jones - card carrying member of the UTTPL - Under The Table Payoff League. Cowboy land where stars are treated favorably.
What do you expect? Could have been an at least 5 week suspension.

I forgot about that incident. I'm not trying to say Zeke isn't a POS, but I don't understand the leagues process with this. There was video evidence of what Rice did and this never made it to the point where the victim didn't testify. The victim came forward and the justice system said there wasn't enough to prove guilt or prove anything really. So if this suspension is for sexually harassing that woman on the parade float I can buy that, but to suspend him for this abuse case that he's innocent of seems insane.
NFL (Goodell) is about optics. You do what Zeke did during an investigation at a Dallas parade with video? You're getting suspended. He may not be a POS. But he's not making smart decisions.
In related news Urban Meyers daughters attended Georgia Tech and Florida Gulf Coast.
Georgia Tech one: Smert.
Florida Gulf Coast one: Couldn't spell "Cat" if you spotted her the "C" and the "A".
...I know my Southern schools.
You CAD!
From 'NFL Personal Conduct Policy':
All persons associated with the NFL are required to avoid “conduct detrimental to the integrity of and public confidence in the National Football League.”
Based on that. Shouldn't the entire Viking organization be suspended indefinitely?
No, don't forget: Zimmer will cut them immediately if they lie to him.

They were probably expecting a K.
Elliott is making quite the name for himself
Great 2016/2017 season and more trouble that he can't seem to escape from. Welcome to the sad fraternity of RBs in the NFL that filled up both the stat sheet and rap sheet simultaneously.
We'll just say he has some accomplishments. Looks better that way.
Call him a boob and he will out himself.
I'm completely shocked that he played for Urban Meyer and he's having off the field issues. Whodathunkit?
Despite his talents he seems like a knucklehead but he won't be the first nor the last. Maybe he's not taking the advice of Chrissy Carter and getting a fall guy. Oh wait - find a guy in your crew Zeke that doesn't get busted on a gun charge. That might be a good place to start.

I live near Columbus and trust me the guy is not bit of a dumbass he is a complete and total dumbass. Of course you hear rumors all the time but the best ones were that Meyer was relieved when he left they were tired of babysitting him.

He's gotten such good results from Percy Harvin, Ray McDonald, Riley Cooper, etc. though.
Oops, I did it again...
Another incident for Ezekiel Elliott
If Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott is indeed bracing for a suspension from the league, he may not be handling the stress very well.
According to 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, Elliott was involved in a Sunday night incident at Clutch Bar in Dallas.
No arrests have been made, and few details regarding the incident or Elliott’s specific role in it have been disclosed.
With the NFL apparently trying to finally figure out how to deal with the domestic violence allegations against Elliott that have been pending for nearly a year, this news can’t help his cause. Mike Fisher of 105.3 The Fan, citing an unnamed source, reports that the league will look at the “accumulative nature of Zeke’e behavior,” which means that Elliott could be suspended not for any one thing but for being involved in several of them, from the domestic violence allegations to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade misbehavior to whatever occurred last night.
That's next-level dumb.
Simultaneously unbelievable and completely believable.
Five week suspension sounds about right to me.

Etc. includes Aaron Hernandez and the Pouncey brothers.
News Flash: Urban Meyer is massive hypocrite. He plays up the Evangelical angle but continues to make deals with the devil. Meyer has gotten a lot of his evangelical cred by being Tebow's coach.
Million dollar talent; ten cent brain.
from what's come out so far, Zeke popped somebody in the nose.
not a very smart donkey...
I hope he does that stupid "feed me" spoon gesture he does in games after big runs when Goodell hands him an 8 game suspension.
Well now I just read that there was a "witness" who said that Zeke didn't throw the nose breaking punch. I think it needs to be confirmed that the witness wasn't Jerruh in disguise. And I agree on the feed me gesture he makes drives me nuts.
The feed me thing is right up there on the Obnoxious table with Culpepper's old traveling hand gesture when he got a TD.
Jones is defending Elliot saying he needs to learn to deal with his celebrity.

I'm hoping he goes "out on the town" with Johnny Manziel. What could go wrong?

Zeke walks in doing the Feed Me thing while Johnny walks in spraying imaginary dollar bills the way he did on draft day.
Someone takes offense, a fight starts, they both get thrown out, and the media frenzy ensues. I think they invented instant replay.
The domestic violence incident. The parade/top incident. The bar fight incident. The pulled over doing 100mph in April incident.
Other than the DV incident, none of these incidents on their own warrants the need for much of a response or attention.
Collectively they represent the real problem Dallas has with this moron. A pattern.
Zeke, Dez....don't know who else needs a "handler" to keep them out of trouble.
Like Cris Carter says, you need a fall guy!
Michael Irvin managed his behavior well in Dallas and has offered to mentor Dez and Zeke. I'm not sure why things aren't working out.
Looks like the Dallas police are suspending the investigation. I wonder how much it cost JJ to get the guy out of Texas. What, no conspiracies in Dallas? JFK would disagree.
ChilliJon posted:Michael Irvin managed his behavior well in Dallas and has offered to mentor Dez and Zeke. I'm not sure why things aren't working out.
I always like statements from somebody like Carter or Irvin saying they will "mentor these young guys".
What they actually do is mentor ways not to get caught as opposed to changing their behavior. And we're supposed to be surprised when it doesn't work out...
Zeke looking at 4 game suspension
Earlier this week, Cris Carter said on FS1 that a suspension is coming, and that the suspension will be accompanied by evidence of domestic violence, and possibly by proof that Elliott destroyed evidence in connection with the investigation.
If they have evidence he committed the acts he's accused of (domestic violence), why isn't he suspended the whole season? If they have evidence it happened, I'm all for this, but why just 4 games? The article says it will be on-par with Tom Brady's suspension, can someone tell me how domestic violence and deflating footballs (which they couldn't actually prove) are equal in terms of severity? Goodell and his suspension squad make no sense with this sh*t. Of course he will serve 4 games and then come back to play GB in week 5, awesome! We can only hope he gets an injunction, plays week 1 and then has to sit out weeks 2-5.
Packers just need to infiltrate the Cowboys' scoreboard/sound booth and put this on every time Zeke touches the ball:
