Id be ok with the NFL stepping in and throwing guys like Aldon out of the league entirely and offering teams a compensatory pick in the round that player was taken in. Why should SF be forced to keep an embarrassment because the worse option is letting him go for nothing when the big picture says he's really just embarrassing the NFL.
I would not. If you draft a turd, you get to deal with the consequences. If that means stashing him on your roster simply to keep him away from someone else, then that's the price you pay for drafting said turd in the first place. Not to mention, I'm not sure how you could possibly put objective criteria together to apply the Turd Compensatory Clause fairly.
The draft is all about projection as we know. That includes projecting how a guy is going to play on the field, how he's going to fit into an organization's culture and of course how he's going to handle himself away from work. If you're willing to roll the dice on a piece of crap, then you have to be ready to pay the price if/when the poop hits the fan.
