I didn't have a lot of interest in Bennett's situation; considering injuries at other positions, he was small potatoes in having a huge affect on the team.
Now that it has ripened for a few days, it's really starting to stink.

Surely there is no way the Cheatriots would 'blindly' claim him off waivers without knowing whether he could play or not. Sacrificing a roster spot for the next 8 weeks or more doesn't make any sense.
Nor from the standpoint of paying his contract/bonuses. It wasn't a bank-breaker, but still pretty sweet for 1-2 year deal. More than what NE was willing to pay just a few months ago....
