What do the Packers need prior to next season?
CB: 2. I’d argue they need at least two who can play pretty much right away. None of the guys they ended the season with should be counted as starters. Valentine’s a decent backup, the rest can fight it out on special teams.
Edge: 2. I think two as Enagbare and Cox are free agents after next season and Van Ness may even end up inside. It’s also probably the strongest position in this draft, so double dip.
WR: 1-2. One might be enough if he’s good next year, but this isn’t a strong receiver class so may need to spend on a good veteran.
OL: 1-2. If Morgan is healthy they may be able to shuffle a decent starting lineup, but their depth was shown to be highly suspect and Walker and Tom have contracts expiring after next season. Tom’s going to want to be paid like a tackle.
LB: 1. Could really use a staring-caliber player. Doesn’t need to be a big-money or super high pick, but a guy who will be able to not be a liability.
DT: 0-2. Slaton is a free agent and Clark isn’t getting any younger. Maybe Van Ness moves inside some but they don’t really have a short yardage hog if Slaton leaves.
S: 1. Depth guy and special teams. Probably just re-sign Zayne Anderson on RFA deal.
RB: 1. This is probably the other contender for stronger position in the draft so take advantage. Plus, if Wayne/Larry are familiar with pop culture references, it would be a lot of fun if they got QUINSHOOOOOOOOOOON JUDKINS!
QB: 0. Weak draft class and Willis seems like a good backup. Clifford is fine as #3.
TE: 0-1. Maybe Musgrave insurance and depth if one they really like falls, but Sims is a decent depth piece and special teams guy.
Specialists: Re-sign McManus and for the love if gods get a good long snapper. Probably don’t spend a draft pick.
