@Boris posted:Maybe they have their "speed guy."
Luke Musgrave is a receiver - so is Tucker Kraft -- both guys have deceptive speed
He seems to be forgotten in all this "Our only speed guy is Watson & he's done for all of 2025" talk
Wontayvion Dicks = CTFB
Jayden Reed = Don't disappear
Romeo Doubs = Keep your head clear
Let's see who Gutey pulls from the draft.
I'm not worried about the receiver room the way some folks are.
The Packers currently have one guy on the roster at WR and TE that runs faster than 4.5. That's Bo Melton who ran a 4.34 40. He doesn't look anywhere near that fast in pads, and he hasn't taken advantage of some chances he's had the first two years.
Other 40 times
Reed 4.49
Doubs 4.52
Musgrave 4.61
Wicks 4.62
Heath 4.64
Kraft 4.69
You don't need a blazing 40 time to be a great WR. Davante Adams and, most prominently of all, Jerry Rice showed that. But even when you have those guys, you usually need a deep threat to optimize them. MVS opened up the field when he was here. Watson was the best of both worlds in terms of a developmental prospect. He had blazing speed and could be useful as a rookie just being on the field as a deep threat, and he had all the tools to become a DK Metcalf type guy. He just couldn't stay on the field.
I don't think they necessarily need to sign a veteran superstar WR as their final piece to a Super Bowl (I think edge rusher is more important), but they do need an MVS type just to get the safeties to play back a step or two and open things up underneath.
