Knowing the protections and the offense goes a long way in why he was maintaining his position as a starter last year. Myers was also a favorite of Love and Love was hurt much of last year.

So did MLF and Gute really want to throw a rookie C (Monk) in front of his franchise QB who couldn't move the way he could before the MCL/Groin injuries?

IMO, that's a big reason they stayed with Myers as a starter.
