Didn’t he play OK the last half of the season or so?

He was clearly still at least a league-average QB and obviously can still read defenses well. If you were a Super Bowl contender and your starting QB went down in Week 15 next year, he'd be the first guy you'd probably call in. The example is Flacco with the Browns in 2023. Watson got hurt/sucked and the Browns were then trying to make the playoffs with Dorian Thompson-Robinson and PJ Walker under center. They saw that was not going to work, signed Flacco off the street and he went 4-1 down the stretch to make the playoffs.

2025 Rodgers is a lot better than 2023 Flacco (who was completely immobile even when he was young). The problem for Rodgers might be that the distractions he causes for a team might not be worth the benefit he would give them in that situation. It's not like Flacco was going on McAfee every week to make headlines or was on someone's short list to be a VP candidate. I think a comparison present-day Rodgers is ~2016 Kaepernik. Both guys were/are clearly better than some of the options that teams will end up going with next year or in 2016/17, both guys put up decent individual stats in their final year, but weren't/aren't good enough to win you enough football games to make putting up with all the distractions worth it.
