The unfortunate part is that let's say this happens. Team XYZ loses its QB in week 8, was on the way to making the playoffs pretty easily, and this is their window. They bring in Rodgers, who takes them to the conference championship game, where they lose a close one but Rodgers plays well. At that point, Rodgers' ego kicks in and he says he wants to play another year, and gee, it'd be great to do it with XYZ again. Then it becomes a nasty mess played out in the media again. I don't know a lot of coaches or GMs who want to take that chance.

Flacco took the Browns to the playoffs in 2023, and he says they never made an offer for 2024. Can you imagine Rodgers ending his career quietly like that? Yeah, me neither.

If that scenario happened, a team needing a QB due to an injury, wouldn’t the team sign AR to a contract that only lasted until the end of the season?

If that were the case, AR could cry to McAfee all he wants about wanting to play another season. The team he played for wouldn’t have any obligation to him after the season was over.
