Quite an improvisation by Alex Smith on a TD run. He fell down, got up and still was able to score the TD. 7-7 SF/Rams.
Saints up, 14-10, with Brees and Newton each throwing an ill-advised INT.
Packer draft pick Caleb Schlauderhaff had one play at OG for the Jets while another player had an equipment issue.
NE mounting a comeback already, 21-14 now.
Saints-Panthers tied, 17-17. Carolina always makes it close.
Miami K hits a 58-yarder to make the score 10-6 at the half.
Hail Mary to Colston who wasn't even covered. 24-17 Saints at halftime.
Tennessee up on Houston; would knock Jets out of playoffs.

I always respected Payton and Brees, but with last week Brees going for the yardage record and now passing with a 21 point lead not so much. Oh well they can have fun with the 3 seed.
Too bad Favre isn't playing for the Bears, Allen would have a shot at that sack record. He has 3.5 today, with 22 on the season. Needs 1 more for record. Only 3 minutes left.

The biggest collapse of 2011 has to go to the Bills. Giving up 42 unanswered points after opening with a 21-0 lead. Chan Gailey is another Dead Coach Walking.
49ers are in choke mode. They had a 17 point lead and now are up 34-27 and punting to the Rams. If Rams score TD I bet they go for 2.

Texans go for 2 to win instead of 1 to tie with Titans. On first try TE false starts, on 2nd try they snap the ball over Delhomes head. Titans win by 1 and make playoffs.
Ammo, Titans still need Bengals to lose to make playoffs. Maybe the Raiders too, not sure.

Brees was taken out early in the 4th Quarter. Are they padding stats? Sure. If they are within reach, why not go for them? Jimmy Graham just passed Kellen Winslow for most single season yards by a TE and Darren Sproles just broke Derrick Mason's record for most all-purpose yards in a single season. The Saints are winning games AND breaking records. If you can do both, why not go for it?
As for all the criticism heaped on Brees, remember that he is in the final year of his contract and those stats go a long way towards getting himself the payday he deserves. Brees has already proven himself to a team guy throughout his NFL career, starting with his days in San Diego. He spreads the wealth on the field (four different players caught TD passes today), so he gets everyone involved. Plus, his teammates love him and have his back. That wouldn't be the case if it was all about him.
