I have to give Carpenter partial blame with that long toss from that distance to Kozma. A pivot and stronger throw, I think, would have turned the twin kill there.
I won't be watching any of these WS games. Can't stand either team.
hoop, Carp had plenty of time with Ortiz running but Kozma just took his eye off the ball and botched a routine play for a Major Leaguer.
Down 1 to zip and playing on the road puts a lot more pressure on the 22 year old Wacha tonight, to go back to Cardtown all even up.

So I saw the end of Game 3 last night with the "controversial" obstruction play and a couple of things jump out to me:
-First, I keep hearing pundits/experts/etc. say that there doesn't need to be intent for an obstruction call to be made. That may be true, but does anyone really believe Middlebrooks didn't raise both legs in an effort slow down the runner (Craig)??? Watching the play over and over, his actions look so unnatural other than to think his first impulse was to slow the runner down. He actually raised his legs a bit for a split send, and then raised them again.
-Secondly, once obstruction was called, the Craig automatically is awarded home plate. But does the runner need to touch home plate??? I'm not so certain he ever actually touched the plate. In slow motion, it appears that his pant leg may have touched it, but I'm not positive. And I don't think he new he was awarded the base. I think he thought he was called safe since he teammates came running out of the dugout.. That, and being injured on the play, he kinda just laid there on his belly for a while.
I think it was the right call, but the classy thing for the Cardinals to do would be to do the entire play over.
What I saw was 3rd basemen (not 1st baseman) Middlebrooks kicking up his legs, an unneeded second time at the knees as he laid prone on the ground,after the ball was thrown past him.
Yes, he definitely obstructed.
Sane people do not root for the Cardinals.

You know what would be a scrappy plan? Call Cosma for a sac bunt so the pitcher can drive in the run you desperately need.
That bunt to move the runner to 2nd with the pitcher coming up in the third inning alone should mean that the Cardinals never win another game forever.
That call gave me a hernia.
