Any personal connection or just a neat find?

A couple of items I found interesting:
Mr. McGroaraty must've have been in the military, and I wonder if getting a leave of abscence granted was common, or if Lambeau or the "Zoose" mentioned had a hand in that.
Who the heck is Zoose anyway?

Do a search at Packers.com and see if Ed ever played. Maybe he had a job as a conductor and turned down the contract.

Timmy, I think it says "Moose". Man Darryl Johnston has aged well.

I opened the PDF and it is Moose. But I think the leave of absence could be from whatever job he was currently holding and not necessarily military.

Tdog, you have a good point about the leave of abscence. I'm still going to go with military, though. Not only from the date, of course, but also from the fact that "Moose" was serving and would like that Ed would be joining the team. The bio from the link that kramer provided doesn't mention any military service, but he was doing something between '39 and '44, and his age would be mid-20's in that time frame. Add his college education, and I can see him being some kind of officer in the service.
