Not a great game aesthetically, but still fun to watch. Lots of great defense, penalties and hard hits.

If I was a man from Mars, I wouldn't have been able to tell which team was the better one from this game--except for Payton. He was simply a man among boys.

The Bears were so superior to the Packers in the mid 80s, yet the Packers played them tough and had numerous shots to beat them---and just couldn't do it---on the infamous Martin play---if he just blocks McMahon after that interception---the Packers have better field postion in a game that came down to field position-- that personal foul was costly to the Packers---Bear fans always forget that is came 'during' an interception.
I really believe that Forrest Gregg's sheer hatred of the Bears was the only thing that kept those mediocre Packer squads under him close in the games against the Bears. The Pack would play at an almost maniacal intensity against the Bears when they would meet, and the Bears would always find a way to win. They might win on a goofy play like a "Fridge" TD reception, but they would find a way.

Certainly, those Packer teams would never come out flat vs. the Bears. But the Bears were always a little more well coached, and a lot more talented. I think the only Bears game the Pack won under Gregg was the one where Rich Campbell threw the fluky pass, and Walter Payton was forced to play QB for the Bears because all their QBs were hurt.

Yep. The Packers had the lead in the fourth quarter in six of the eight games the teams played during Gregg's tenure. They only won once, on Rich Campbell's wounded duck to Phil Epps in 1984. The biggest heartbreaker for me was at Lambeau in '87, when Al Del Greco gave the Packers a one-point lead with a minute left, only to have Kevin Butler hit a 52-yarder as time expired.

On paper, the Bears should have won each of those games by five touchdowns, but in those days even bad Packer teams got "up" for the Bears like nobody else.

Should be showing the 1989 game in Lambeau.

That's is weird that they skip this one and always show the 1985 game. That game is a case study for horrible football and really has nothing worth watching other than the cheap shots.

It's also not like they show that game with extra interviews and features. If I remember right, it's just the game...nothing else.
Before that NFLN showed the highlights from the 1968 game where the B***s won on a free kick field goal following a fair catch. Remember listening to that game on the radio and being devastated.

yes...I do...

My hope is that the game has been already decided when we use him...this way it looks like we are rubbing it in...and then MM decides to put the dagger in by running a "fridge" play with Raji....

Raji could be a blocker...but I would love to see him run the ball or even catch a pass....

just for payback...and to make a statement....
That Martin cheap shot is possibly the worst thing I have ever seen. It was incredible.

I don't get Gregg as a coach, but he did have that magical year with the Bengals, who really outplayed the 49'ers in that SB. They just had a slow start and never quite caught up.

Jinx.

I played this scenario out for Mrs. Blair Kiel on our walk this morning.

They just showed the '83 game as well. Pretty good stuff. Smiler

Caught that one. Goofy description on the DirecTV channel guide.

It said something like even though the Packers dominate the B3@rs, they lose with 3 seconds left on a FG by B3@rs kicker Jan Stenerud.
