I forgot how bad a start Favre had in this game... That said, as I write this, they show the 73 yard pass to Brooks to put them right back in it. I'll say this in defense of #4 that season, he really was the one great thing the '95 team had. The defense and running game were pretty average that year. Bad start and bad end to that championship game for #4 though.
I recorded the pick play by Novacek on the pass to Deion, forgot the kind of ridiculous stuff Dallas got away with in the early to mid nineties. I will try to upload it to youtube and post it here.

I'm not watching it at the moment but despite the frustration of that loss, it was the NFC Championship game they hadn't been there in most of our lifetimes.

You knew the best was yet to come.

Now rewatching the 4th and 26 game, the T.O. Frisco game or either NYG at Lambeau is another story...
Agreed Chickenboy, at the time it was just special getting there. Those Cowboys teams of that era were loaded.

The Pack really went for it in '96 signing Santana Dotson, Don Beebe, Pepper Johnson, Mike Johnson, Desmond Howard, Ron Cox, and traded for aging Eugene Robinson who still had some football left in him. The 2 Johnsons never made it to the regular season roster, but Cox turned out to be a good pickup subbing for Koonce in the Super Bowl.

And don't forget about Bruce Wilkerson filling in at LT. Wolf got some good mileage out of some graybeards during that run.

If it was at least entertaining, I can stomach it. I'd never watch the Rams playoff loss, the Falcons playoff loss, or the Giants playoff loss of 2 years ago. The Pack was just so poor in those games, it's not worth watching.

I can stomach watching the heartbreaking ones if I know the Pack was competetive. I've even watched Super Bowl XXXII about 10 times over the years. Strictly from a football standpoint, that was a tremendously entertaining game. The pain of that loss wore off a long time ago for me. I can now appreciate it for the great battle it was even though I know the Pack blew it.

...and you knew it was coming in the 4th quarter.

I blame the vikings, since it was their brainless gift of draft picks that pushed the 90's cowboys over the top.
That team was stacked, especially the massive OL
.
.

"...Dallas ended up with a total of six of Minnesota's picks over the succeeding years, two 1st round and one 2nd round picks were used to draft Emmitt Smith and Darren Woodson, winning multiple Super Bowls and being voted on to go to the Pro Bowl numerous times also.

Jimmy Johnson used the other draft picks to make trades with other teams around the NFL. One of the trades led to obtaining the first overall draft pick in 1991, which was used to draft Russell Maryland. In other words, the trade of Herschel Walker to the Vikings contributed largely to the Cowboys' success in the early 1990s."

" Seventeen years later, the trade was still an easy target for satire: one ESPN columnist, assessing the impact of free agency on the NFL, noted that it had almost entirely replaced significant trades and by doing so
"took away one of the greatest shortcuts to becoming a Super Bowl champion: fleecing the Vikings."

And while the Cowboys were rolling up another SB trophy in 1993 still fresh off the Herschel fleecing, Dallas poured a fresh shot of alcahol on Minny's gash by swiping the North Stars for good measure. 6 years later... Dallas held a downtown parade for their shiny new Stanley Cup trophy.
