that is the game where the called a phantom holding call on one of our linemen at the end right after a big gain and then the defensive guy for Arizona jerked Rodgers face mask down to his knees while the official swallowed his whistle. I remember it well.
The thing that pisses me off more than anything else is Mike Perreira telling us the facemask on Rodgers was an "incidental facemask" & not a penalty.

That was back when they were letting Rodgers get pounded & he would never get a call from an official.

Things are different now. But still....

NFL FU!
Yep. Cullen Jenkins did way less than that on a play where he was tackled but Jenkins got called for hands to the QBs face. Injustice was done that day. The fix was in to elevate up the Kurt Warner ledgend even more.
I was at the game as well. I took a picture of them lined up on the play AR just missed Jennings on the first and 10. I could tell it was going deep to him...watched it all the way.

The other crime of a play was the helmet-to-helmet hit AR took on that second down screen play. Bertrand Berry was fined 5K i believe. The next play was the losing TD.

We took a lot of heat early in the game down 21-0 or whatever it was. The crowd was drained late in the game, and the fans who gloated earlier were extremely worried - a wild and memorable one.
That team was rolling offensively and similar to the 2004 or 1995 Packers playoff teams it would have been interesting to see what they could have done had they advanced.

The good thing is that the 2011 playoffs and Superbowl victory basically erased the sting of that playoff loss in AZ.
Watched the end of the 1st half and the 2nd half while working out Saturday. Skipped OT. Smiler

Still a great game but when you have Giordono, Bush and Underwood all getting meaningful playing time a guy like Kurt Warner is going to carve you up.

Something I had forgotten from that game was the textbook onside kick pulled off by Crosby and Underwood. You can't do it any better. Then they go for it on 4th and 1 on the same drive at around the 50 and AHMAN GREEN picks up the first down. That was huge to keep alive a big drive.
Man what a game, and as noted the AZ fans were very mouthy at the beginning when they were up 17-0. They got a lot quieter as the game rolled on

PackerHawk- those were some crappy DB's and Bigby wasn't much better...and GB really struggled with all the bunch formations that Whisenhunt uncorked day
Game didn't hurt me as much after they won the SB the following year. I can look at it as a springboard game. At the time when it ended, I felt like someone tore open my abdomen and removed by bowel without a sedative.

That's unusual, whenever we get a lead most of the fans I know sit back and wait for the meltdown. If I recall, you guys trounced us the week before, maybe that's why the Card fans were froggy.

That was an awesome game, Warner was godly, and I think that game was AR's notice to the league that he was a force to reckon with.
Down 31-10 in the 3rd yet they would have won if Rodgers could have connected with Jennings on that first play in OT.

In retrospect, the loss doesn't hurt that much b/c: 1) they won it the next year; and 2) the Saints and Vikings were the better teams that year. In fact, isn't the next week one of the Bounty-gate games where the Saints knocked Warner out of the game with a concussion (last play of his career)? Probably a good thing Rodgers wasn't in that game.

Looking back, a few things stand out to me from that game:

1) The Jermichael Finley you saw that day is the reason why TT is paying him $8.5 million this year. He was unguardable. Unfortunately, I dont' think he's the same player after his injury the next year.

2) I thought this was big game in the development of MM as a coach. His guys didn't quit and he showed some real balls (and smarts) with that onside call in the 2nd half. I think this game convinced him to put the ball in AR's hands and built his personality for the next year's success.

3) Unfortunately, this was also the game that planted the seed of doubt about Capers as a coordinator. I think a lot of the reactions to that 49er game last year had this game in mind. It was an atrocious defensive performance. Warner had more TDs (5) than incompletions (4) and guys were wide open the entire game -- no pressure and no coverage. Beanie Wells and team ran for 7 yards a carry. Basically, the only reason this wasn't a blow out is the Packers scored everytime they got the ball and stole a couple of possessions with a Fitzgerald fumble deep in Packer territory and the onside kick. And while folks were quick to defend Capers in 2012 b/c of his personnel, what were the excuses in this game? Woodson, Collins, Jenkins, etc. were all arguably at the peak of their careers.

There was no bounty. Just ask Drew Brees. The smug bastard well tell you so.
Moon - Reich in 93 was one of the craziest playoff games ever. But Fouts - Strock is one of the top 10 playoff games I've ever watched. The hook and latteral to end the first half was great stuff. I'd never seen that play run in any game. Shula dusts it off with less than 10 seconds in the half down by 14. Crazy.
