Article on the 2010 team and how they were the best in football. Not only by winning the SB, but overall. The article, 2010 Packers: In a Class of Their Own, says that the Pack really was the best team in football, not just the team that got hot at the right time as may believe.

Yes, I've written many posts about the same thing. It wasn't just getting hot, it was the team finally arriving at the point they had been developing toward over the season. Mmm, it's kind of why they went 15-1 last year.
It's true that the actual value of both the 2010 and 2011 teams wasn't reflected in their records. All things considered, both should have finished 12-4 or 13-3.

But let's not discount how lucky the 2010 Packers were, too: If Matt Dodge hadn't kicked the ball directly to DeSean Jackson in that fateful Eagles-Giants game, the Packers very likely would have watched the playoffs at home. Lots of similar examples along the way.

Make no mistake, they won it all thanks to tons of talent and poise. But after the loss at Detroit, the Packers needed a million things to go right, and fortunately they all did.

P.S. History will not repeat in 2012.

P.P.S. Let's not confuse the musings of a Packers blogger with expert analysis.
14-2 When Clay and Rodgers played a full game in 2010. Those two losses both on last second field goals on the road at the top two seeds in the NFC.

I still get steamed when they are lumped in with the two Giants teams that "just got hot."
In the article's initial paragraphs he talks about people calling the 2010 Pack a fluke due to how they are playing in 2012. If there's really someone out there that thinks 2010 was a fluke just because the Pack hasn't been dominant in 2012, they're not really being very smart.

It's really not even close to the same group of guys, there's been quite a bit of turnover. Just the offensive line alone has changed almost completely since the Super Bowl. They won the Super Bowl with a line of Clifton, Colledge, Wells, Sitton, and Bulaga. As of today, only Sitton is still out there.

That's not to mention a key free agent losses of Cullen Jenkins, Scott Wells, killer injuries to Desmond Bishop, Nick Collins, and the combination of age/injury diminishing effectiveness of guys like Greg Jennings, Tramon Williams and Charles Woodson.

When the Pack faced the Giants last week, they were without the following key guys from that 2010 Super Bowl run: Jenkins, Bishop, Collins, Colledge, Wells, Bulaga, Clifton, Woodson, Matthews, Jennings. Of those 10 guys, 8 of them were Pro Bowl or Pro Bowl alternate level talents. That is a hell of a lot of talent that are not playing not to mention all the depth that has been stripped from the team since that time.

Just the listing the guys missing right now from that 2010 team makes you realize just how incredibly talented that team was.

No, they are not being very smart if they chose to ignore 2011 where the team went 15-2.
