This is from a story in August. How accurate is it now? I'd hate to lose guys like when we lost Desmond Howard after SB31.

Tyrone Williams and Desmond Bishop have signed extensions. And some of the FAs-to-be are gone (Barbre, Blackmon), but still pretty much the same list. With all the uncertainty about next year's season, the situation of the Packers seems to be pretty much the same for the other NFL teams. Nobody wants to re-sign their players, and everyone has a boatload of free agents because the 4 year rule was voided for this season.
These are no longer with the team:
Will Blackmon S 25 4 1,176,000
Allen Barbre T-G 26 3 550,000

These are in the "who cares" bracket, IMO:
Jason Spitz C-G 27 4 1,759,000
Atari Bigby S 28 4 1,699,500
Spencer Havner TE 27 1 $470,000

As mentioned, TW & DB have signed & Hawk isn't a FA.

So the list really looks like this, IMO:
UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENTS (8)
Cullen Jenkins** DE 29 6 3,200,000
Daryn Colledge** G 28 4 1,759,000
John Kuhn FB 27 4 1,176,000
Mason Crosby K 25 3 1,101,000
James Jones WR 26 3 1,101,000
Charlie Peprah S 27 4 630,000
Korey Hall** FB 27 3 550,000
Brandon Jackson RB 24 3 550,000

EXCLUSIVE-RIGHTS FREE AGENTS (1)
Brett Swain WR 24 1 395,000

Edit A: Given Iowacheese input, I edited my post. I haven't seen an article for Goode's deal, but it doesn't mean it did not happen either. So taking his word for it ........

You'd like to sign Jenkins but I'm sure his age and injury history will come into play along with the status of Neal and Jolly. He might not be back.

Either Kuhn or Hall will probably hit the bricks. Neither will be too costly to sign. Johnson is on the roster.

Jackson is a guy that could be replaced in the draft and Starks/Grant will be back.

Colledge, to me, is just a guy. You try to resign him but if you can't you replace him with somebody younger.

Gotta pay Jones but how much? You'd like to see him be more consistent.

Crosby is a good kicker. I still get a bit nervous at times but you gotta keep him.

I think Peprah has earned a pay raise but will it come from the Packers with Burnett waiting in the wings?
I think they will work out a new deal with Hawk, but I think we're going to see him make about 10 million this season anyway. As a FA he would probably get a deal that would pay him that much up front anyway and with Thompson's penchant for front loading contracts, I think we'll see Hawk get a lot of money this season.

I think it's possible we see Jenkins get franchised. That may tick Jenkins off, but the fact is it will give us time to work on a new deal for him and will allow us to see how things shake out in the draft, Johnny Jolly, and the health of Mike Neal. If Neal looks like he's going to be 100% and Jolly is coming back and looks good, then we can let Jenkins play for the tag and then let him walk. If Neal is iffy and Jolly is iffy, then we can proceed with a new deal.

I think Thompson will let Colledge walk. I think his demands will be too much and to be honest, if they really wanted to keep him, they would have already worked out a deal (as they did with Williams and Bishop). Same for James Jones, Spitz, and Bigby. Jones will be easier to replace than some think...he's good, but he's not a special or unique talent. This draft is loaded with WR's who could fill his shoes. I have high hopes for Brett Swain also, he seems like that kind of Wes Welker type who you don't want to count out or underestimate.

I definitely think we will see Mason Crosby re-signed. He's been erratic at times, but he's a pretty good kicker overall. I doubt Thompson has forgotten what it was like going through retreads like Billy Cundiff and Dave Rayner.

Peprah, Jackson, and Kuhn will all be re-signed relatively cheaply IMO. Korey Hall won't get an offer anywhere else so I think we will see him re-signed also for cheap.
As GD pointed out, I think Peprah, Jackson, Kuhn, and Crosby are the top priorities.

Colledge and Jones would be great to resign, but I think they will get a larger payday somewhere else.

Not sure what to think of the Jenkins situation, when healthy, he is a BEAST.

I'm not sure about Hawk, I think he wants to stay, wants to win, which is all good, but might harbor some ill feelings about PT from last year and this year, and not give the Packers a "home town discount".
Crosby, Kuhn, Peprah and Jackson will be easy to sign. None of them is good enough to demand a serious pay day on the open market. Classic case of their value being higher in GB than anywhere else.

Colledge, Spitz, Bigby and Havner are as good as gone, for reasons explained.

Jones is likely back. I think he really likes it here and WR's like him are a dime a dozen. He doesn't seem to have a huge ego either. And again, his value is likely higher here than anywhere else b/c he knows this system and fits in well.

Jenkins is the guy that makes me wonder. On one hand, Neal and Jolly are likely back next year, and I see Wilson developing into a good player. But none of them are the pass rusher Jenkins is. But he's also injured and will be 30 if he signs. On the other hand, I've heard Trgovac say he's the best interior pass rusher in the league. IMO, Jenkins has 2 more years as a great player (if he stays healthy). Problem is, he'll get a 5-6 year deal on the open market. TT will likely max out at 4 years. No idea which way this will go but I'm ure we'll see him get franchised (which is being challenged by the NFLPA right now) so the Packers can make a more informed desision after the CBA is signed.

So, let me get this straight. Sitton wins the offense lineman of the year
award, and you say "who cares?"

http://www.jsonline.com/sports/packers/115155719.html

Look at the list again. Is SITTON'S name there? No - it is SPITZ - you know the guy who got a back injury and hasn't been quite the same since.
