It also doesn't mean it shouldn't have been challenged - that was a huge turning point.

 

That's exactly what it means. 

 

IMO the knee was close enough to being down OOB when he was (re)gaining control - would not have been reversed.

bobbled, hovering over sideline, finally got ball under control, while knee landed OOB. From what I could see, no catch.

 

Maybe both feet were in bounds at time possession was established, I don't know. Either way, I don't think that's overturned on challenge.
