2014 Tight Ends

Quarless certainly is not as dynamic as Finley once was, but the Packers did win a Superbowl with Quarless as a starter.  That said, tight end is a position that the Packers should look to improve upon.

 

I wish Finley the best, but his days as a Packer appear to be over.

They'll likely try to keep Quarless, but someone will pay more than GB will offer.

 

 

Draft CJ Fweoriewporuwlfsdlkfswicz from IA.  Some say he's the best all around TE in the college game.  I think he will be a great safety valve for AR, might not have the athleticism as J-Mike but overall great TE, and a Hawkeye.    

I'll see your CJ Fig and raise you an Eric Ebron.  He's got the Finley attributes of athleticism. Trouble is, he might not be around at 21.

TT isn't drafting a TE in RD1.  Not gonna happen.

Would have to believe one of Ebron, Amaro, Seferian-Jenkins, or Fiedorowicz would still be around in the 2nd?

yea, because taking Hawk over Vernon Davis worked out well.

Sliding Doors, Butterfly Effect... whatever. Hawk has been near 100% healthy. Who's to say Davis has the same career in GB that he has had in SF?

Do people forget Davis's first few years in the league?

Davis first few years showed some flash but got no support from Singleterry as a coach. The next time Hawk flashes something will be his first. But he is healthy and in the case of the Packers over the past three years that counts as Packer Hall of Fame inductee.

All I know is I hope we go away from the strategy of keeping 19 TE's this coming season.   Way too much roster space for way too little production.  

 

I would like to see those roster spots go to LB's.   They can contribute on ST's and provide depth at a position where we have 4 players on the field instead 1 or 2. 

I remember reading that Finley has a $10M insurance policy he can collect, but I assume that vanishes the second he steps onto a practice field. Would have to think he'll seek a comparable guarantee in his next deal, while teams will be scared of going beyond one year.

Drafting a tight end is the least of The Packers worries.  Fix the defense and everything after that is gravy.
