From JSO:

Green Bay —  The Green Bay Packers announced Monday which organized team activity (OTA) and minicamp practices would be open to the media and public. They are as follows...

OTA's: Thursday May 28, Tuesday June 2, Wednesday June 10 (all at 11:30 a.m., Clarke Hinkle Field)

Mandatory Minicamp: Tuesday June 16 through Thursday June 18 (at Clarke Hinkle Field, exact times to be determined)

Also, players will report to training on July 29 with the first practice set for July 30.

Rookie orientation camp will be held this upcoming Friday [May 8] and Saturday.

@TyDunne: Mike McCarthy at the podium. Not worried about Randall sitting out, says he'll be "ready to go."

@ByRyanWood: Mike McCarthy said he was "just being smart" with Damarious Randall today. Said injury is "something minor," he'll be ready early next week.

@TyDunne: McCarthy says it can be tough for a QB Day 1 with new receivers. Thought Hundley "had a lot of throws on anticipation. Always a good thing."

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy said it's too early tell if Randall and Collins are outside or inside corners. Collins had a pick-6 playing outside.

@TyDunne: McCarthy: "We're a 25.57 age football team year in, year out. ... Everybody is going to have an opportunity."

@TyDunne: McCarthy on Montgomery: "He has a ton of explosion. I thought he definitely stood out today."

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy on Rollins wearing Jarrett Bush's old number: "I think it's premature that we did but Jarrett Bush is still a free agent."

@TyDunne: MM on Rollins in Bush's 24: I don't think 24 signifies that. He's a 9-yr veteran. ...If he returns, he'll wear 24. He's still a free agent.

@RobDemovsky: Jarrett Bush still has a locker at Lambeau Field but Matt Flynn does not.

WTH?

Did he show up with an injury or did it happen at practice?
I didn't see anything more specific on Packers.com this evening...

Packers' Thomas helping Ryan learn at inside linebacker

As Green Bay Packers fourth-round draft choice Jake Ryan lined up at inside linebacker during rookie orientation camp practice Friday afternoon, he had a friend in Joe Thomas.

It was just a year ago that Thomas was standing in Ryan's shoes, trying not to mess up an assignment that until the night before was foreign to him.

Thomas, an undrafted free agent who was eligible to participate in the rookie camp because he spent last season on the practice squad, will be in fierce competition with Ryan for a spot on the 53-man roster. And anyone who knows Thomas knows the emphasis is on fierce.

But this wasn't the time to be thinking of himself.

"No, it's not like that," Thomas said. "It is (tough) first day here. They throw the playbook at you and you have to go perform. That will cloud your brain real good. If I'm able to help somebody, I'm going to do it."

The 6-1, 230-pound Thomas, who injured his knee in the exhibition opener last year and was waived/injured at the end of camp, was the defensive player of the year in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference his senior campaign and played across the line a lot also.

The Packers liked him last season not because he was always in the right place but because no matter where he went he went with the intention of a hard tackle.

"I have more experience," Thomas said. "It's easier for me and I'm in better shape. I have a better understanding of the playbook, so there wasn't any stress. I was free, running around. It was good.

"There are a lot of guys here. For me, I'm just being me. Work hard, dedicate myself to the position and if I earn the spot, I earn the spot." continue

Joe Thomas seems like a good dude.  I don't remember much about him from last year, but it's hard not to root for a guy with that kind of positive attitude.

MM comments after Saturday's practice:

Green Bay --- Running highlights from coach Mike McCarthy's Saturday news conference...

On practice today... Really, the two practices, today was definitely a step up from yesterday. The energy. Very pleased with the quality of it. Looking forward to watching the tape. Players will continue with meetings and take a tour of Lambeau Field and then have dinner at the Brett Favre Steakhouse tonight.

On deciding which tryout guys will stay... Over the course of the weekend.

On players here from last year (Hubbard, Thomas)... Benefit for us as a staff to see how much they improved. Great work from everybody. Great to have them out there. They can show the way. Drills, practice, incorporated new drills. Excellent work. These two practices, I'm always so impressed at the conclusion. The energy is impressive.

On Joe Thomas last year, these 2 days.... Frankly, didn't pay a lot of attention to Joe live. Joe has been here. Looks good. Needs to pick up where he left. Think he'll do that.

On Hubbard... Put on some weight, put on some size...Looking to see a step Year 1 to Year 2 ... Impressed with Hubbard so far. He was here early, prior to off-season program, so he's put a lot of work in.

On UDFA's getting noticed... Getting noticed part is over. They're here. ... Scouting different than it was in the past.

On CB Gunter standing out/opportunity in secondary... Absolutely. There's opportunity for all of them. You have to go into this with an open mind. Stick with your philosophy, with your 90-man roster. Evaluation process doesn't stop. Also, set up with chance to bring a player back, chance for someone to go onto another camp. This doesn't end today. Not only do you have actual live video but the evaluation process continues.

On Blake Sims... Did some nice things today. Made some throws. He's instinctive. He has a bounce in his step. He did some nice things today. ... Evaluation process doesn't end today. Nice to have video. Did some practice work with guys at different positions.

On handling rookie class/no press conferences... Haven't done it. Forgotten why we don't do it. Expectations high enough for the young men. Rookie orientation serves them well.

On a OLB standing out as UDFA... I think so. I think that position carries on different characteristics. We've developed elephant position so you have different 'tweener body types. ... You do have some numbers you're looking at. They could definitely be a factor.

On Jake Ryan at ILB... I like what he's done. He's bigger than I thought he was. He's picked it up clean, making the calls and been very assertive.

Something about a big dinner at Favres Steakhouse makes you want to retire early.

I ate there once when my son & I were in GB for Packer related stuff.  They seated us and gave us menus and went away.  My son then says. "Dad, have you looked at these prices?"  I smiled and told him I know we aren't at McDonalds, go ahead an order something.  I know it doesn't sound like much but I thought it was humorous at the time.

Al, earlier today...

Flipping channels before the game yesterday, and there's a Duggar special on about birthing babies (you thought I was gonna say strip clubs, didn't ya?). In it, the oldest Duggar daughter, Jana, who is either a midwife or an assistant or studying to be one, was at one birth, and then got a call at 7AM to go to another one.

Allow me to say, that is one good looking broad after being up all night.

You can't explain Al.
