So this is how it feels to have a bad team? I don't like it.
We all went into 2005 and 2006 with low expectations. At least I did. We went into this season expecting a Lombardi. This is why this all hurts so bad.

MM saved a TO and let 30 seconds run off the clock when Det had the ball with 2:30 left. What did he do with it? He burned it on the 2 point try.. Sure could have used that or the 30 seconds after the onside.
I thought he gave up play calling in part so he could improve in game decision making.
He burned it to see the defense that Detroit was going to run. Done all the time. Better throw, or Adams making a play that a quality NFL receiver should make, and we get the two point conversion.
disagree but will concede. . What about the 30 seconds? Throw in the clock mgt at the end of the half and it was a piss poor performance by MM.
If you mean the 30 seconds before the two minute warning, it meant nothing. They scored with 38 seconds left. Had they used that timeout, they would have been out of timeouts and forced to hurry the two point playcall, without the chance to see the Detroit defense
Surely the worst 3-game stretch for any team in the history of the NFL who started the season 6-0. This team is imploding, and it's all about leadership. That includes Rodgers.
The Vikings lost 4 ugly ones in a row after starting out 6-0 in 2003, but everyone (even their own fans) kind of expected that team to implode. No one expected this.
He may be soft, he could have made the catch but you have to admit that if it was a Pack DB who made that play you and I would have leapt off the couch. It was a good play.

30 more seconds at the end of the game would have meant nothing? And you are talking about the 2 point attempt that they failed because the free rusher right? That TO sure was helpful.
This is horse****. I know teams do this, so it's not like some made up theory, but c'mon. They were running a two point conversion. Plenty of time to set up a play. It was a dead ball and the entire offense knew they had to run a play. This team has pissed away time outs the last few weeks, this is a pattern. Stupid play and it is now a pattern.
Not like Detroit couldn't take the time out to call another defense either.
Not calling the timeout at 2:30 was almost as dumb as calling the timeouts/running hurry up offense to end the first half.

No kidding. McCarthy has been a bad clock manager since...well...forever.

Well, since Detroit had not timeouts left they couldn't have called one...so there's that.
Again, seeing what the defense will do on a goalline play and then calling timeout is down in multiple games every year. They saw that Detroit was going to blitz, adjusted the call to run a play that would work...not a good throw, inexcusable drop by Adams.

It didn't fail because of a free rusher. It failed because an NFL receiver failed to make a makeable catch against a guy signed off the street on Wednesday by the Lions, combined with a throw that could have been better.

Fair enough. And it's a vicious cycle at the moment. Rodgers doesn't trust his receivers or his OL right now. When he had to wing it on those throws to Cobb and #80 in the 4th quarter the results were good. He had to throw it and the receivers had to make plays on contested balls. He will not make those type throws in the 1st or 2nd quarter. He's short arming throws. He's breaking the pocket earlier and earlier because he doesn't believe the WR's are going to beat coverage. He hesitates on receivers that are open giving the db's time to recover. And then the WR's drop balls and it starts all over again.

His mechanics look very sloppy as well. This is a breakdown across the board imho. Top down, from MM and TC to Rodgers and the o-line. Everyone is responsible for this disaster and everyone needs to look in the mirror. The fact that they burn timeouts every week and make the most fundamental mistakes is inexcusable.
Not like Detroit couldn't take the time out to call another defense either.

Detroit, I believe (will check with SDPF... about the rules), is allowed to use the time during Green Bay's called time out to take the time to call out another defense. If Detroit is required to stay on the field and stick the the call they made before the time out, then what you say makes sense.

Rodgers is throwing off of his back foot at times. That, along with the anemic running game, is a result of not trusting the OL. He's taking a lot of hits and is pulling it down and scrambling or getting rid of it to avoid being hit. MM almost criticized his mechanics in the post game but caught himself. He said he wasn't going say that in public and it resulted in him pretty much confirming there were issues with QB mechanics. MM's snafu's continued into the post game.
and there we have it....the viqueens are now in first.
Not having seen a replay, it looked to me like the timeout on the 2 point conversion was taken principally because the play clock was about to expire. Once again.
Not like Detroit couldn't take the time out to call another defense either.

If the play that you originally called is not going to work against the defense, then that is why you use your timeout; if you feel the call will work then you run the play. Which is why Rodgers waited to call the timeout, because Detroit tipped its hand with a blitz.
If it was not a pattern, and time outs were not important, maybe. What happens if you line up again and you don't like the defensive call?
Coming out of a dead ball, I would hope they could line up and run a damn play before the clock expires.
