During the financial portion of the @NFL league meetings, teams were given a 2018 salary cap projection of $174.2-178.1M, source says. It was $167M last year. The final number comes in the spring.

There isn't anyone coming up in 2019 worth extending a year early. In fact, looking forward, I'd be asking Cobb to take a cut for 2018 season. Clay and Jordy are due, but at their age there is no way you extend them early. In fact, you might be seeing the end of that era.

I agree. Burnett is our best Safety. We cannot let Dikplod go either, because he has the best hands of all our TEs.
It's too bad Kendricks hasn't emerged as a bigger threat than he has. Maybe AR can fix that too.
Defense really struggles (more) when Burnett is out. It's hard to appreciate him because of the overall lack of quality in defending the pass but he may be the most important player on that side of the ball because of his versatility and setting the D.
If the Packers let Burnett walk, I could easily see him making 3 straight pro bowls and TT and MM with their thumbs up their asses wondering WTF just happened.

This. See linebackers and D in a straight line across the field while guys run open behind and in front of them.
I think we really over value our teams talent. We are talking about the worst passing defense in the NFL here fellas. It ain't 100% on Capers.

I completely agree. Hayward has been pretty good and Hyde has been good as well. I think Burnett has to be resigned a really good safety is a not an easy thing to find.

Green Bay Packers LB Clay Matthews (knee) recently underwent a cleanup procedure on his injured knee, according to a source.
PackerNews ran a stupid 10 minute video slideshow in their Morning Buzz suggesting Mason Crosby could be a salary cap casualty. That seems stupid to me.
The Packers have something like $40mm in space. No one should be a casualty, unless they were saying a restructure. Even then I'd be surprised if they needed to restructure Money's deal.
