Yeeehaaaaaa Go Bucky.....looking forward to BB season.
Did a double take on the title.
Wait, when did Bucky start playing baseball again?
Seriously tho, Bucky should be playing baseball?
Arenβt they the only Big 10 school without baseball? Itβs a shame they killed the program. Bring it back, Barry!
Bring back Rick Reichart!
Not that Arkansas Pine Bluff is a juggernaut, but that was an impressive display on both ends tonight...
Most impressive freshman in a long time
One more 'tune up' game and we will see what we have here. All indicators are pointing up, solid veterans and some real promising youngsters on this years roster. Marquette and Louisville will tell us a lot.
Looks like a fun year of buckets ahead. Hope we can get all games played.
Impressive effort by both teams!
Badgers beat up Green Bay pretty good, 82-42. Badgers stats outstanding. Shoot 55.7% on FG, 45% from 3 point range, and 83% on FT, and 18 assists.
Nobody watching Wisconsin vs Marquette?
This is the #4 team in the nation? Not impressed.
Reuvers is so bad.
And then they lose on a tip in rebound. Embarrassing. Marquette were so much better. A simple box out does it.
The free throw difference killed them. With 4 minutes left Wisconsin was 13-14 and Marquette was 19-23. Crappy way to lose and Marquette celebrated with a big covid pile. Smart!!!
What a shock...
Has Brad Davidson improved in his 7 years on Campus?
He was better when he got all the flop calls.
They might be ranked at seasonβs end. Early tourney exit type of team.

Potter did all he could to box, the Warrior kid just made an exceptional play.

After my 6th year in the UWM soccer program, there was a petition to drop the sport.

Would you like to bet on this? The polls weren't in left field. They won the Big Ten last year for a reason and they're even better this year. And deeper.
Freaking out over one loss, guys. Marquette's a good team.
Marquette is a good team
Itβs interesting because this might be their best team in a while even without the Hauser brothers or Markus Howard. Villanova rules the roost in the Big East but this is a sneaky good Warriors squad positioned to make some noise in that conference
Badgers will be fine. Each team won and lost the game like 3 times in the last few minutes
I donβt think any one expected an undefeated season. Marquette is a better than a OK team, they have a couple young guys who look to be big timers. They are better without Howard IMO.
Bucky will be just fine, probably a 6 or 8 loss team who, with their experience will do well in both tournaments. They also have a few youngsters who are getting a lot of time and will be well seasoned by March.
Trice blew it by picking up that blocking foul with less than a second left. Make the guy hit a running, contested shot. The good thing is that Trice owned up to it and said it was boneheaded and that he'll learn from it.
JFC, Tice is a senior. If he hasn't learned by now................. But for some it is easier to blame Gard than to just say Marquette is pretty good.

My point (poorly made) that Trice's foul was a much bigger mistake than the failed box out on the tip in.

Well, he got owned!
2020-21 has pretty much been the opposite of 2019-20. With low/no expectations a year ago, they surprised everyone by rolling to the top of the B1G standings.
This year, with βthe greatest recruiting class in program historyβ added to a roster that generally was the same one that surprised everyone last year, theyβre a near .500 team in the conference.
Their last win over a ranked opponent was NYE over Minnesota (21), who is now 6-12 in the conference and at 13-12 overall will not play in any Tournament. The high point of their season was the previous week: on Christmas Day over MSU who at the time was ranked #13, and a week earlier they pounded a ranked Louisville team by 37. At that point, the Badgers were 8-1 with what appeared to be 2 signature wins. Since then, theyβre 8-8 with 2 bad losses (Penn State and Maryland) and are 0-6 against the power teams in the conference (Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and Ohio State). Neither team they beat that week is ranked, and both are on the Tournament bubble. This means essentially that the Badgers donβt have a signature win this season. Their last 2 games this week are their only shot left- both are against teams ahead of them in the conference standings (Purdue and Iowa), and both road games.
Really hard not to see this team as a strong one-and-done type team. Theyβve played themselves out of a top 4 seed, looking more like a 7-8 seed at this point. Is the Big Ten just this tough this year, or are the Badgers just not very good? Could be both...
Iβd say the Big 10 top four teams are good to really good. Michigan and a healthy Illinois team are really good, good enough to win it all. Ohio and Iowa are good enough to make a round 16 and even round 8 tourney run. The rest including Wisconsin can be good in any game but can really stink the joint up too.
Matchups are everything in the Tournament, and the season could come down to that pathway to the regional Finals. When theyβre active and making shots, they can really look good. We havenβt seen that since the week of Christmas.
I guess the B1G is really loaded this year. 4 in the top 7 of the AP and 4 in top 10 in the coaches poll. Badgers lose 3 of their last 4 yet remain at 25 in the AP and 26 in the Coaches. Hopefully this will make them a tough out in the NCAA.

#Badgers have shot less than 40% in four of the last five games, including a 34.8% performance Saturday vs. Illinois. Purdue is fifth in the B1G in field-goal defense (41.3%).

Is this team really a lock for the tournament? After they lose at Iowa they will be a .500 team in the Big 10 and 16-11 overall.

I would still think they are easily in as of now. They'll be a lock if they win at least one game in the Big 10 tournament and end up something like 17-12. If they someone get blown out by a middle seed in the first game of the Big 10 tourney and end up 16-12, then they'll start to sweat a little bit.
With an expected loss at Iowa, they'll be 16-11. 7 of the 11 losses are to teams currently ranked in the top 7 in the country. That strength of schedule will figure highy in the ranking indexes. Of the other losses, the only one that is truly bad is to Penn State on the road (a tough place to play with the travel). Losses to Maryland (another tourney team), Purdue (top 25 in the country), and on the road at Marquette don't hurt that much.
They'll probably end up at like a 7 or 8 seed, squeak by the first team in the tourney and get beat by double digits in the second round. It's probably better than being a 5 seed and having the entire country pick the 12 seed to upset you in the first round.
They stink......ugly play, ugly subs, ugly coaching, just all around ugly. They'll be a one and out team in the Big 10 tourney, and just forget NCAA, they'll be NIT for sure. Or am I being to pessimistic???
This is a team that, for the second season in a row, has me ignoring Badger basketball for the first time in 30 years. Ugly basketball.
Just. Hard. To. Watch.
