Those are some nice stats from this past season.  Seems to have a little pop in his bat and some speed on the bases too.

2nd round pick #51.    Russel Smith, LHP from TCU.     During his time at TCU, Smith posted a 3.62 ERA across 25 starts and 121.2 innings pitched, with 144 strikeouts versus 32 walks. He looked on the verge of a breakout during the shortened 2020 season after returning from his elbow surgery, posting a 2.57 ERA and 27:2 K/BB ratio in 21.0 innings across four starts, then followed that up with a 3.83 ERA and 101:20 K/BB ratio in 15 starts and 82.1 frames this season.

In the 3rd round Brewers draft, pick #81 was Alex Binelas, a 3rd baseman from Louisville.  He was drafted by Washington right out of high school but never signed. He is originally from  Oak Creek WI.

4th round was Logan Henderson, a pitcher from a Texas Jr. college.

5thround was Ethan Murray, a SS from Duke.

6th round Carlos Rodriguez, a right handed pitcher from Florida Southwestern.

7th Tristan Peters, an left handed hitting OF from Southern IL Carbondale.

8th Zack Raabe, a SS from Minnesota.

9th was a right handed pitcher Jordan Brannon and 10th was Wes Clarke, a catcher, both attending South Carolina.

So far the Brewers have only drafted college players.  The front office must think recently graduated high schoolers are not worth the risk.

The final draft pick in the 20th round is Sameul Mendez from the D R.  The unique thing about him is that he is 28 years old, 6-7  and a former basketball player. Following is a short write up about him:     RHP- Samuel Mendez (2021 draft eligible from Santo Domingo, DR

). Currently pitching for the Sabetha Bravos. Has good pitchers body, FB in the mid to upper 90’s. Has won the “Connor Taylor pitcher of the week the last three weeks
