If Gutekunst does that, he should be fired immediately.

Why? We've drafted ten million defensive players in the first two rounds, and that unit has barely improved because our defensive coordinator is an idiot.

Take a stud TE in the second, one that can block and catch over the middle, and that's the best kind of security blanket a for-all-intents-and-purposes rookie quarterback can have. He has the running game, and a great tight end gives the offense built on the run a great deal of versatility.

In fact, I wouldn't be against taking two tight ends in this draft. One in the first two rounds, and one in the fourth or fifth. Deguara is a nothing, Marcedes Lewis is way long in the tooth (is he even coming back?) Tonyan is gone to the Bores.

Love is green. Give him young weapons that will grow with him. Watson and Doubs, and a tight end, they can develop together for a year or two as a group, and they should have a strong offensive system. Jenkins has said he wants to stay in Green Bay. That's a major piece on the line if he stays healthy.

1. Being a petty bitch is not a qualification for a good GM.

2. He ignored receiver early in tremendously strong drafts so to overdraft one now shows he's not a qualified GM.

3. Showing it was never his philosophy to actually go for a Super Bowl, instead just stretching out mediocrity like the Cubs is not a quality in a good GM.

Gutenkunst wouldn't be doing it out of spite. That's how I would view it.

And I'm not asking for a receiver. A tight end is a different animal altogether. If we take one of the top ends in the draft, they should be able to help block in the running game, pick up an outside blitzer, and pass catch over the middle.

Most great quarterbacks have had a perennial Pro Bowl-caliber right end. Drew Brees had Graham. Brady had Gronk (and the killer before he went gangsta). Mahomes has Kelce. Peyton Manning had Dallas Clark. Garroppolo isn't on that level, but he had Kittle.

We ignore the position almost as much as we have middle linebacker until very recently. A great tight end is such a boon in the red zone.
