I guess we'll see how many national TV games the Bucks get in 24-25, but for the first time since 2018, they won't be playing on Christmas Day. I think this is better for the players to be able to spend that day with their families, but it indicates the sports media no longer considers the Bucks a draw.

It will be Knicks-Spurs, Sixers-Celtics, Warriors-Lakers, Wolves-Mavs, and Nuggets-Suns.

The NBA clearly wanted the Spurs over the Bucks (and other teams). KD is a bigger draw than Giannis and Dame. Curry/LeBron is the game with the two worst teams other than the Spurs.

I don’t gamble anymore but I heard that Fan Duel has Milwaukee as having the 8th best odds to win it all this year.

I think it speaks to the fact their last two years have been underwhelming but man, if this team stays healthy I think they are easily one of the 3-4 best teams in the entire league.  Dame is actually working out this offseason and they don’t have all of roster and coaching turmoil coming into this season.  They’ve also done a nice job of addressing their gaps and I’m not sure anyone in the East outside of Philly has actually gotten better.   But Philly is only going to go as far as Embiid’s health takes them which is a complete mystery.

The Knicks and Pacers won’t sneak up on anyone this year and we all know the post championship hangover effect is real in the NBA.

The Bucks have been at the point where the regular season doesn't matter since about 2019. Just get into the playoffs with a top 6 seed.

If Giannis, Dame, and Khris are healthy come playoff time, the Bucks can beat anyone. If Middleton is hurt, they can beat most teams outside the top 3-4 in the league. If Dame is hurt, they can beat most teams outside the top 5-6. If Giannis is hurt, they'd struggle to make the play-in tournament.

Eric Nehm at The Athletic wrote several excellent pieces on the 3 pieces Horst added to the roster this summer. Nehm is always a great read and although they are behind a paywall, you can turn off javascript on your phone and they should load just fine

"The Bucks’ offseason changes made them bigger, younger, and more athletic heading into next season. And because all three additions are above-average 3-point shooters, they should have a chance to play in the postseason, if they can survive on defense. It will not make headlines like other teams in the Eastern Conference, but capped by the signing of Trent, Horst put together a strong under-the-radar offseason.

In the end, though, the only thing that will matter for the Bucks come playoff time will be the health of their key players. But given the team’s financial constraints as a second-apron team, the Bucks’ roster is more talented and better fitting than it was last season, which is something that was hard to expect at the start of the summer.
