In retrospect, the big difference was the way they handled the end of the first half. They turned what could have been 10-6 into 13-3 and it's 3 possessions now instead of two, all because of presnap penalties.

I hate taking the ball first with a young offense as well. Works great if they get up, but it puts a lot of pressure on them out of the gate when they don't. Let your defense hold serve and keep that extra possession in your back pocket if you need to dig out of the mistakes young offenses inevitably make.

If Jacobs doesn't fumble, it's the right decision. MLF had a poor game, but getting behind like they did was mainly because of mistakes by Jacobs, Wicks, Reed, Cooper, and Tom on fumbles, drops, or presnap penalties. And having Gary and Van Ness get shut out.

He’s definitely not a horrible GM.  Due to their winning record, he hasn’t had a lot of play.  #13 pick in the draft or higher statically isn’t going to be a stud pick - more of a solid starter pick.  Most of your blue chippers come in at pick #1 - 10, which the lions and Vikings have had for a long time.  It’s the way the NFL is designed.  Here has been spot on with free agents.  Maybe he should ask for some help when it comes to picking defense.

The only top 10 picks the Vikings have had in the last 12 years are Anthony Barr at #9 in 2014 and J.J. McCarthy at #10 in 2024. Hell, Jefferson was picked at 22.
