Yes
I’m guessing Cooper is still learning the playbook and he’ll be worked in more and more each week.
Rookie.....
But damn good.
The defense is WAYYYY better with him in it
Top 5 defense v. Jax
1. LB Eric Wilson: 81.1
2. LB Edgerrin Cooper: 74.3
Wilson delivered five tackles, six assisted tackles and two stops while not giving up a single catch in coverage over 57 total snaps. Cooper missed two tackles but also delivered a game-changing strip-sack, three total stops and a pass breakup.
Coop is a difference maker.
I was surprised to see he got fewer snaps than both Wilson and McDuffie, but Wilson has been on a heater the past couple of weeks as well.
"Whether it's a linebacker or a safety, there's not many people who could make that play," LaFleur says on the Edgerrin Cooper middle-field PBU after bluffing the rush.

Matt LaFleur has talked a couple times about Edgerrin Cooper "refining his routine."

That hints at practice habits, study habits etc.
Says that's true for most young players. They have to go through it and find what works best for them.

It also hints at "needs to work harder" to turn flashes into consistencies.
Coaches want to see your level of engagement
Although....some guys are just "gamers" they don't practice as well as they play on the field. It's on the coach to recognize that but the player has to earn it.
The most notorious "gamer"??
Charles effing Woodson
Despite some criticism, high praise from cranky uncle Bob. Gets a last words dump on Quay at the end too.
We kept telling you all Spring leading up to the draft that Cooper was going to be the pick that turns this defense around.
I told you guys, that play to cover Kirk and knock the ball away as he was catching it. We haven't seen anything even close to that since Desmond Bishop.
Fred Warner, Bobby Wagner maybe Roquan. Those are the guys I can also see making a play like that. Very few LBers
Too bad Najeh isn't still around. We'd have a Cooper, a Hopper and a pooper.
Bob may be grumpy but he is not wrong to question whether quay is better than wilson, McDuff or Cooper. That is your best lb group...but it would most likely stir up the locker room.
Maybe Quay needs to have a setback and end up on IR.
I know a guy.
"The Packers need to get healthy at some critical spots, but I don't foresee massive changes coming out of the bye. As far as inside linebacker, it's a lot to ask a rookie to play the "Mike." Krys Barnes did it in 2020, but it's a massive undertaking. Personally, I like the way the Packers are using Cooper in Year 1. This utilization allows the rookie second-round pick to play fast and free without being saddled with having to communicate the defense. It makes him harder to keep tabs on for the offense, too."
