McMillian showing promise in dime package

quote:
After two weeks, he hasn't looked the least bit out of place on the Packers' practice field and was mildly impressive in the intrasquad scrimmage.

"He hasn't been back as a coverage guy as much because he's been playing that dime position," safeties coach Darren Perry said. "We've really been trying to focus in on that. To come in this system, learn the safety spot and learn the dime, with all the exotic blitzes and coverages we have, he's got a full plate."

"He can run with tight ends. I don't think range should be an issue."

"He's got a good feel for (blitzing)," ]said Perry. "Some guys are more comfortable near the line of scrimmage and some are in space. The (box) is one of his strengths because he played a lot of nickel (at Maine)."

Past the click, Darren Perry talks about #22 Jerron McMillian's man cover skills, his willingness to tackle, and a summation of how he thought he performed on Family Night.

He has a long way to go before he'll be dependable in a regular season game, but it sure is nice to see that he has the tools to play if he develops. I'm guessing with his skill set they're trying to find a way to get him in the dime package to bring pressure. You've seen Shields do it a few times in the past but Jerron seems to have a lot more instinct around the line.

IMO, Burnett is still suited for the ball-hawking S and just not good at it yet. He is not a heavy hitter, his tackling is a far cry from what a SS should be.

IMO, they still need that good size SS so Burnett can do his FS thing ...

M.D. Jennings'position should be sweeping the lockerroom to collect a full paycheck after Special Teams practice is over ...

I think the coaches need to watch a game from the stands next to this guy.

All I know is that the people that own the seats next to mine always tell the people that buy them to sit next to me because I always see things they don't see. They sometimes even trade seats at the half. Doesn't make me an expert but it is kind of fun seeing them turn around to watch the replay to see if I was right.

It is not our job to evaluate NFL talent.

It is their job.

This current coaching staff has shown a tendency to be a little shaky about how to figure out the best players to put on the field. Throughout the MM era. Constant OLine shuffling...etc.

The fact that the players they have assembled look so bad without AR out their bailing the team out is plenty of proof about the abilities of the coaching staff and their talent evaluating.

16. Green Bay Packers: HaHa Clinton-Dix, S, Alabama

That’s three straight Alabama picks, if  you’re keeping score at home. This match has felt like it has been in the cards for months … so it probably won’t happen, if history has taught us anything. Still, the Packers have a clear need for a safety to partner with Morgan Burnett. That tandem alone would not fix Green Bay’s ills on D, but it would be a significant start.

"straw man, also known in the UK as an Aunt Sally,[1][2] is a common type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[3] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and to refute it, without ever having actually refuted the original position.[3][4] This technique has been used throughout history in polemical debate, particularly in arguments about highly charged, emotional issues.
