"Gotta get that cleaned up"...
There’s one statistic, perhaps the most telling of the season so far, that helps explain why the Packers are off to a 1-2 start. They have the NFL’s worst fourth-quarter point differential, according to ESPN Stats & Information, at minus-32.

All on Rodgers.
Major fail.
interesting stat.
do you know who leads the league is (a) fourth quarter turnovers or (b) fourth quarter three-and-outs?
All on Rodgers.
Major fail.
1st game defense gassed
2nd game blowout garbage time points (not that I'm happy with them)
3rd game was just bizarre. first time ever a team went up by 14 down by 14 and then ended up winning. Archie Manning was on a radio interview and called it one of the craziest games he's ever seen. Also noted that he knows MM pretty well.
I like that 4th quarter finishes will become a point of emphasis for the team. The Packers are usually very good at refocusing, if not during the course of a game. I think it starts with MM. I know they like to play without rubbing it in, but I'm much more of the Sean Payton or Belichek mindset of scoring as many points as possible and building confidence. The team has a tendency to call the dogs off a bit too early, imo.
tit, after the Redskins game, I would've agreed with you that they were "garbage time" points.
After this last game, it looks more like the trend so far this year.
1 game in a row is a trend.
MM pulled Matthews as a "precaution" when it was 30-14. By the time it was 30-27, MM couldn't put him back in the game
Shoulda been a great victory, but they'll learn from it
I'll also note this: I went back and watched the game and the pivotal point imo was 5 minutes left in the 3rd, GB up 30-14 and in control.
Then came the penalty on Ryan Taylor for retaliating after Burfict punched him in the balls. That was assessed on the kickoff giving Cinn the ball at the 35. Then Perry gets dinged for a late hit. Another 15 yards and the Packer D was clearly frustrated
30 yards of that drive came on penalties. Then Shields gets beat for 7
Momentum changed, crowd got back in it. If the Ref calls that ball-punching correctly, it may have been a different outcome.
Still- it serves as a painful reminder for MM and his squad:
NFL games are 60 minutes long

The only thing that comes close to me is when I saw the Minnesota Gophers blow a 28-7 4th quarter lead to Michigan. Almost 10 years to the date I think. Green Bay choking away a 30-14 lead wasn't nearly as dramatic but it was close.
I also can't remember a time when two teams combined for 8 turnovers in one game.
