Freddy getting knocked around pretty good tonight... yikes
Grandal launching bombs... holy shit.
Brewers need to shore up the bullpen, and fast.
The whole staff is a mess... they were down 6 after the first inning
At this point Brewers giving up way too many HR's. What's going on? Hope this isn't the result of the pitching coach change.
Miller Park is a launching pad we all know that.
The starters have allowed 15 HRs in 61 innings pitched.
The younger guys will be up and down especially Peralta. We saw that last year. My concern is Chacin has given up 4 HRs already this year, and he’s supposed to be the one consistent guy. All last season he gave up 18 HR.
We also can’t underestimate the injuries. Ideally, Burnes would be in the pen where he was really effective. Maybe that happens when Nelson returns.
Losing Wahl before the season even started and not having Knebel or Jeffries hurts them big time. Guys like Claudio and Williams are just not very good. Chase Anderson is just a guy at this point.
Getting Jeffries and Nelson back will help but they have some pitching holes to fill for sure.
Peralta can look so good, and then he has blow up innings like last night. Hopefully just a result of being young and growing his consistency. He and Burnes have looked pretty shaky at times this young season. Youth.
Counsell's had to go to the pen early on multiple occasions. Lotta innings by the pen so far.
Gotta get that figured out. What's the latest on Jimmy Nelson ?
As Tschmack pointed out, the starters are on pace to give up 203 home runs and have worked about 5 innings/game.
Burnes and Woodruff are the keys. Chacin, Anderson, and Davies are solid end of the rotation guys that give you a chance. Chacin in particular saved them big time last year by eating up almost 200 innings and going 15-8. The problem is they don't have a guy that is even a #2 guy (Maybe Chacin), let alone a real #1 starting pitcher.
They are one injury (Hader) away from having one of the worst overall pitching staffs in baseball.
They really need Jimmy Nelson to be effective when he comes back.
I really hope Davies can recapture some of his previous form. He was pretty decent in 2016 and 2017 before injuries derailed his 2018 season. So far, so good in 2019. Hope it continues.
Chacin, like Chase Anderson the year before, had career years. Not sure you can expect them to repeat those performances.
I’m not particularly sold on Peralta but am very high on Woodruff and Burnes. If Nelson can return and pitch to close what he was before it would do wonders for the staff.
With the way the bullpen has struggled I wonder if Woodruff or Burnes would get moved to the BP if Jimmy Nelson is effective? Either one of them, plus Jeffress returning, would go a long way in making the BP much better.

I would move Burnes back to the bullpen once Nelson comes back.
Love the clip of Jimmy Nelson. Need some of that !!
Woodruff. That's just bad pitching.
I miss the 80’s and 90’s when there were actually more then 5 good pitchers in the entire league.

Another game where Hader is taken out of the equation early.
Why all the angst over pitching? A couple bad innings by the kids and it's dial up $100 million for some Darvish type?
Davies won 18 games in 2017 and looks great so far. Chacin looking solid. And kids are kids. Anderson is in the pen unlike the previous 2 years where he was a mainstay and Nelson looking better each day.
Party on Boys, it's a marathon.
Darvish should have to pay the team for letting him pitch
I was speaking of baseball as a whole. I guess I’m a little more old school. Pitching overall is not what it was 25 years ago.

Agree on the long view, but the fact that they are also missing Knebel and Jeffress right now makes it even more important that their starters eat up some innings. Get Nelson and Jeffress back and the whole staff will look a lot better.
They may still need to go out and get a guy to give them some halfway decent innings to start games though.
