Right up there along with those two is ball security (13 less fumbles this year), and sacks (10 more).

Desmond Howard was awesome on PR that year. Oddly, the TD in the Super Bowl was his only (regular season/playoffs) KR for a TD.

I was also a bit surprised at just how good of a season Masthay ended up having.

As much as Packer fans dislikes Favre these days, it is tough to downplay how good he was in his prime. He was fantastic in '96. I would say that, at the very least, QB is a push.

That stretch of play by Favre from about mid 1994 through the end of the 1998 season was about as good a stretch of play by a QB that you will ever see. And it's pretty amazing that Rodgers' play is actually pretty darn close to that level if not better.

Logically you have to say Favre gets the nod but I will say he had a better OL and running game. AR has better receivers by a big margin, IMO...
I don't think it's that big of a deal, Goldie. I think it has more to do with how your team is playing coming into the game than anything else.

How much experience did the NY Giants have coming into the game against the New England Patriots? This article says the Giants had two players with Super Bowl experience, while the Patriots had 21. That's almost exactly the number of players the Steelers have with SB experience.
