When you join an opponent at the beginning of the year I'm not sure there is much you can tell your new team that they can't gather from film.

When we rip on PFF, one of the reasons we cite is that PFF doesn't know what each players' assignment is on every play. Watching film suffers from that same impediment. Both offenses and defenses have rules: "IF they do this, then we do that. " Those are the kinds of things you can't pick up by watching film and the kinds of things former players can share. Film is great, but knowing the rules and the calls is even better. Hence Billy the Cheater filming signals and matching them up to game film.
