Hells Bells. Awesome. One of the dumbest gimmicks the NFL tried to come up with.

NFL to Dump Color Rush in 2018

One of the ways the NFL tried to get people to tune into Thursday Night Football in recent years was by featuring “Color Rush” uniforms. Unfortunately, that strategy didn’t exactly pan out, and more often than not those uniforms were universally excoriated, rather than praised.

Heading into 2018, the NFL is ditching those uniforms, Bill Wanger of FOX Sports announced on Tuesday. Additionally, he made it clear that scheduling will be a much bigger focus, which is a good thing considering so many Thursday night games had been total flops.

The next geenyus idea the NFL should have?

Ditch Thursday Night Football. Period.

If they really wanted to, they could easily schedule most of the Thursday night games so that would involve having teams play the Thursday immediately after their bye week. In that case, they'd have roughly 10 days on each side of the Thursday night game. Instead of one long 2 week bye, they'd get two 10 day recovery periods between games. Why they don't do that baffles me.

Good point, Mich. I like the 10-day idea. It's good that the color rush is dead. A few games were watchable -- GB in all-white and Chicago in all-dark comes to mind -- but many color rush games were unbearable to look at. Baby poop yellowish? Ketchup vs mustard? Christmas on an NFL field? Whoever thought of those should not be paid.

Great marketing...just screams outdoors and camping.

Nice wide hood to tie down a deer.

I was eaten by one of those Citation hoods once  and I'm not making it up!

Holy Crap!  That was my first car!!  1980 Chevy ****ation!  The color was Turd Brown however.  Wow.  Good Times.  Good times.  The back seat went down with the sun.  Very room back. With the hatch up watching movies at the drive-in.  Good times.  Ahhhh. thanks.

My Brother bought a Citation 5 spd. brand new. I worked at the dealership. In the first month a snap ring broke in the transmission, The starter armature stripped off of the shaft and the oil pan developed a crack. He ended up driving the car  over 200,000. He was in sales at the time. He kept breaking a little plastic clip that held the drivers window in the track. The clutch went out along with the clip. I'm replacing the clutch and he says "the next time that clip breaks I'm getting rid of it." It broke again the next week.

I bought a used one for 500 bucks when I was in college, just to deliver pizzas in. The best feature? I could yank the key out while the car was still running. In the winter I would leave it running, take the key out to lock the car while I delivered pizzas to the dorms.

Good Times.
