I get the impression the MVP voters don't stick high and tight to the definition of MVP = most valuable player to his team.  In other words, how would his team fare without him.  I'm guessing they look more at stats and performance.  They may discount Brady for the 4 game suspension but not for the fact the Pats went 4-1 without him.

Fair point, PP, but in terms of MVP voting defensive players aren't evaluated in the same way. This is evidenced by there one win in 40 years. Hell, if anything your point justifies this logic. HOU was without a generational talent on D, and it still didn't change the outcome of their season at all. I'd argue a DIV showing was their ceiling with Watt.

On the other hand, I don't see ATL or GB as .500 teams without their QBs. NE still wins 11 or 12 games without Brady. If they truly vote on value to the team, this has to be a factor.
