Just as a friendly reminder to everyone, after his first year, people were ready to pencil in Dak Prescott into the HOF and declare him the next Joe Montana. He came crashing down in his second season with an 86 QB rating and threw 13 picks.

Let's give Mayfield and Mahomes a few seasons and then see where they are at once defenses see more of them on the field.

Pretty sure Mahomes is the real deal ...maybe some regression this season but wouldn't be surprised either way.

Baker has flashed some key stats that suggest he has "it" whatever "it" is...but it remains to be seen.s

Welcome to the new NFL...it's a big time saver.

Just like the NBA...you really only have to watch the 4th quarter now.

But the game keeps changing and it's all relative.

I remember my grandpappy "Chief Lot of Bull" ragging about the forward pass as a charter member on the board of the Green Bay Packers / Oneida Nation

They didn't have casinos yet...but I sure do miss the cockfights.

Not sure I would use the word great just yet after 1 season each.  But, I do think that Mahomes sure looks like the real deal.  As for comparisons I would compare him to Elway.  Big time arm and can run when he needs to.

Mayfield?  I think this year we will have a better read for how good he is/can be.  To me what makes me pause on Mayfield is that he seems to be a bit of a hot head that and he plays in Cleveland so you never know how that will turn out.

I don't like Baker Mayfield.  His schtick is pretty annoying and he's a little too arrogant for me.  But I think he's going to be a good QB in this league for awhile. and he's going to piss off a lot of fan bases.  Really glad he's in the AFC and not the NFC North.

I don't know what to think about Mahomes.  We've just never seen a first year QB be this good at passing.  Common sense would say he can only get better with more experience but can he really improve from last year?  I think we'll see a dip in his numbers but he may actually be a better QB.

If I had to take one I'd take Mahomes though.

Mahomes reminded me of Bert Jones 1st year. Crazy competitive. Fearless. Mobile, Cannon arm. More accurate than you’d expect for an arm that strong.

Not at all sold on Mayfield.

and he throws left handed.....

β€œWe’re getting to point where Patrick Mahomes could literally do anything with a football and it would be all that shocking. The man completed a pass with his left hand in a pivotal moment during his first appearance on Monday Night Football. He doesn’t even need to look when he throws passes. His arm strength doesn’t take a hit when he’s on the move either.

Mahomes is a football-throwing machine who might very well have the most talented arm this league has ever seen, which allows him to make an impossible throw like this one he made during the Chiefs’ training camp practice Friday with relative ease…”

It’s early. He reminds me of Bert Jones. And Bert Jones was a filthy talent at QB. But Bert Jones had to deal with Chuck Knoll, Don Shula, and John Madden. Mahomes doesn’t have to deal with that kind of coaching but he does have to deal with Bill B. and the greatest underperforming playoff coach of all time in Andy Reid. (1A is Schottenheimer)

If Mahomes can overcome Andy and Bill I’ll buy in a little more.

Just ease up on β€œthe most talented arm this league has ever seen” comments though. That’s simply nonsense talk.
