Yes they are. You wouldn't think they would be arseholes but they are trust me. The only worse fans I have been around have been Eagles fans.
I don't have any issues with Luck retiring or any other player who calls it a career after the wear on their bodies.
I sure am going to miss the civil war updates on twitter though.

Good thing Indy had the common sense to get competency at the backup QB position.
Competent is about as far as I'd go right now in describing Brissett. His one season with extensive playing time was pretty uninspiring. I do think their OL was still pretty bad in 2017 so maybe he'll show a little more in 2019. Over 10% of his attempts have resulted in sacks.
Backup QB is the least important roster spot until it becomes the most important.
There aren't 32 starting caliber NFL QBs right now, finding a competent backup is not easy.

I know I made a little fun of the "Suck for Luck" thing. But gathering some data, I was surprised to learn that Luck was 2nd in TD passes and 3rd in passing yards for a NFL QB after year 6. That is impressive considering all the injuries he had.

So here is my take on Luck. I'm in Indy, I went to their preseason game v chicago and I golf with a high level exec with the Colts (his title starts with Chief).
They knew Luck was retiring 10 days ago but tried to talk him out of it. he had mentioned it even before then and had said if he gets another serous injury he might hang it up.
The shoulder injury took it out of him. Shoulders are tough to fix and his apparently still hurts. He hurt his shoulder snowboarding, not on the football field.
The latest ankle injury is a broken bone where the foot and ankle meet. If he has surgery to fix it would be out probably 8 weeks and face rehab. Or he can play through it and it will hurt but not really be an issue other than pain management. He hurt his ankle skateboarding, not on the football field.
My personal opinion on Luck has always been the same. He was groomed to be an NFL QB by his dad. I'm not sure he ever really loved playing the sport as kids like that feel they have to do it for someone else. He did, but I think he reached the point where his bank account was plenty bug, his age sufficient and his will to play all reached the same point. He didn't need to do it any more so he isn't.
While at the game last Saturday I asked a Colts fan guy in the suite with us why Jim Harbaugh was on the ring of honor. He only played 4 seasons in Indy. He had a losing record. His best season he threw for 2600 yds, 13TD and 11 Ints. His team never even won the division. He was Randy Wright for cripes sake and he's on the ring of honor??
That should tell you what the Colts are all about.
If Harbaugh is in the ring of honor they should just rename Indianapolis to Manning.

Thanks Murph... I honestly didn't know Luck suffered his shoulder and ankle injuries while snowboarding and skateboarding. So... most, not all, of his "injury, pain, rehab" cycle was self-inflicted and the only way he was able to see light at the end of the tunnel was by removing football. Interesting...
I think Luck is a great dude. Always respectful and obviously good at throwing a football. 29 years of age with almost 100 million in your pocket sounds like a nice way to go through life.

Listening to the radio late yesterday, and don't recall who it said it, but they also noted that Luck never really liked football, but he was so good at it, it just made sense that he'd play.

Some people know they have talant that's above all others and believe it should be used, even if they just "like" a sport and don't love it, or even if they hate what they're good at. Case in point: many, many years ago I saw a woman runner at the state meet when I was UW-River Falls. She warmed up for the two-mile race for about 30 minutes, ran the race, won, set a new state record, and after the race, she just ran off the track and onto the infield where she started jogging on the grass just inside the track. From her facial expression, you'd never know she just won a state championship. She continued jogging for another like 45 minutes. Then, she went out and ran the one-mile race, won, set a new state record. She crossed the finish line, never sat down, just kept running for like an hour. They called for the half-mile, she sat down, changed into cleats, got up, won the race and tied her own state record. After crossing the finish line, she changed shoes, and kept on jogging around the infield until the end of the day, got her medals and left with her team. I said to someone, "She must just love to run." The person knew her and said, "No, I've talked to her about it. She doesn't like to run but says she has a god-given talent and it would be wrong to not use it." Couple years later, I saw where the woman won a marathon somewhere, and she never once looked happy after any of the races I saw. Now, I don't think Luck hated playing QB, but some people have that guilt overload if they do not use their talents...
