Angelique Kerber defeated Karolína Plíšková 6-3 4-6 6-4 in the US Open women's final today, to win her second Grand Slam of the season. Kerber was already assured of being the new world #1 after Plíšková defeated Serena Williams in the semifinal, but Kerber put the exclamation point on it by winning the final. She came from a break down in the third set as Plíšková pretty much ran out of gas. Spare a thought for her, but with that powerful serve, she should see many Slam finals in the future.
(I know how much you all enjoy tennis.)
