I bought "Watchmen" graphic novel and I thought it was awesome. I went to see the movie after reading it and was thoroughly disappointed.
But, overall, no, not an avid comic book fan. My son is really into Batman, lately. Been thinking about buying some Batman comics for him. He's seven, though, so I'm afraid the content of today's comics may be age inappropriate for him.

I used to be. Now I just check our trade paperbacks from the library.
Favorite authors I do buy once in a while: Warren Ellis, Alan Moore, Neil Gaiman, Mike Mignola, Brian K. Vaughan (Ex Machina).

Same here, had over 4,000 mags, sold them in 1990 for a bunch of cash. Wish I still had a few of my favorites thou. Comics from the 60's, 70's and early to mid 80's , all gone.
I once thought I had lost a bunch of my comics when I was a kid, turned out my cousin stole them and gave them back years later.

LOL, not to speak for him, but Max has been a Watchmen nut for years and wouldn't shut up about the movie...until he saw it. He hated it. I liked the movie, but I have never seen the graphic novel.

They have reprints of Batman stories (black and white) in books called Showcases - so you can find the era that you like. They usually are around $10 to $12 and have about 15 to 25 issues in them.

Also, their is a Batman Brave and the Bold cartoon on now that is supposed to be good for kids. I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.

I am more of a graphic novel person...have a bunch of Batman ones, V for Vendetta, Watchmen (loved the novel AND the film), but my current favorite series is The Walking Dead.
My wife has a few hundred. A lot of Archie ones, Jughead, Veronica, etc. Also has some Looney Tunes.

Robert Kirkman is great - there is going to be a "The Walking Dead" tv show on AMC.
