I ask myself this: How in the world are we gonna stop those two big Bears receivers and Forte? Cutler is more apt to turn the ball over, but you have to be near the receivers and also have consistant pressure on Cutler.

I hope yesterday isn't going to be Caper's blueprint for the season: let them complete passes underneath and pray for a mistake. This does two things that are not good. Allows the other team to control the ball and doesn't force turnovers.

While Collins was big, it isn't just one thing. Turnover happens but guys simply haven't stepped up to fill those roles. Maybe Perry, House, Heyward, McMillan, Smith and/or Lattimore can step up at some point but that hasn't happened yet. If they do the Packers will be in business but until they do there will be a number of rough moments.
I think the Packers will be rebound vs the Bears. While their performance was mostly underwhelming yesterday, it is a long season and they got too many good players to simply whither up and shrink away.

That being said, McCarthy did not have himself and his coaches and his players ready to fight the Niners. We have seen this before and again it reared its yesterday as it did, last January...the Packers played "soft" on the field and on the sideline.

MM has to get tougher.
So, this means you are saying that SF is an inferior team?

I am amazed at this statement. last i remember, the 49ers were in the NFCC while GB was sitting at home watching with bruised egos.

No way in H E double toothpicks is SF an inferior team.

SF has assembled a pretty fine football team. The Bay area can be proud. Great Team!
now, I also believe that if yout let these 2 teams play a series of 5, 7 or even 9 games, it will come down to the final game to see who actually wins.

Too many "FANS" are still living in 2010. this is not the same team as then. Even the entire Team will tell us this.
it is impossible to maintain the level of play they exhibited at the end of 2010. Then they went 15-1 and everyone was expecting a repeat......
didn't happen for obvious reasons. In other words, if I need to explain it to you, then you have the Football acumen of a Cricket player.

A-Rod played at an unbelievable level last year. Guess what, he had a once in a lifetime season. he is a great QB and we are lucky to have him.

one last point, the GBP are not "entitled" to anything. they have to earn it just like everyone else. get the stupid "we onbly have to show up and the victory is ours" crap out of your heads, this is not the NFL. ANY GIVEN SUNDAY!

Yesterday we were BEATEN by the better "team". I just hope that in January the Pack will be a much better team than they were yesterday. I am 100% certain that they will be.
I still stand by my 13-3 for the season.

I also think that the Bears are going to run into a buzz-saw on Thursday night.

I think the Packers are a very, very ANGRY football team right now.

Simply because they embarrassed themselves last night. I honestly would not want to be the Bears coming int GB on Thursday.....

42-13 GB is what i am thinking. they are going to put a beat-down on them.
SF is a very good football team, and I wish our D played with the same passion and hard-hitting attitude. Come to think of it, our O could have used a kick in the butt.

I think it will take about four games for our D to really figure out what's up and to start reacting rather than thinking. If, by game 6 they still look lost and are not getting more pressure on the QB, then I'll be worried. As for the O, I expect more fire, more cohesion and better play starting this week.
No front 7 is remotely close to what SF has assembled. The Giants front 4 is close. But their play at linebacker is as good as it gets.

MM is really going to have to earn his money to game plan around that the next time they meet.

Watching the 49'ers try and account for Cobb coming out of the backfield and when he went in motion tells me Benson may spend some time on the bench if they meet again. I don't see GB having any success running the ball against SF (no surprise, no one does). They went 14 games last year before giving up a rushing TD. And have allowed a back to gain 100 yards ONCE in the last 39 games.

The good news.... SF has 4-5 guys on D that have contracts coming up at the end of the year. No way they bring them all back. Yeah, it's a pretty sad attemtpt to look for a positive.
Who cares? (a) Barnett wasn't replaced by Hawk - he was replaced by Bishop and GB's defense promptly improved drastically. (b) Barnett and Hawk are both really good at making tackles five yards down the field, so replacing Hawk with him would be a wash - at best. Hawk and Barnett are both overpaid, overrated former first-rounders who are decent players but far from difference makers.

What's important is that the Immortal DJ Smith has been exposed as an average player at this point. He's got a ton of room to improve, but they're really going to miss that thumper type at ILB, particularly against physical, run-first teams.

You mean, as in teams like the Bears? We can take it to the bank that Chicago will copy-cat the Niner offensive game plan. The Packers will see a healthy dose of Forte, and the Bears will get Marshall matched with Bush/Shields as often as they can. If I recall correctly, the Packers had a tough time with Marshall when he was with Miami. A game the Phish won during the 2010 season. I don't see the Packers defense rebounding in 3 days. I just pray Rodgers and the offense comes to play, because they'll have to score more than 15 points (remember, we got 7 on Cobb's big return) to win.
The niners just didnt miss tackles, the packers just didnt make plays. If we see them again, we win. I feel terrible for the bears. it may get ugly. I cant wait for, oh say about week 10, when were 2 games up on the division and tied for first in the conference, and this team really gets the fire under their a**. trust me guys, it is still there. one game.

The only thing i didnt see yesterday was the leadership from our guy.
The one who gets in the huddle and says, "lets get out here, do what we do, they cant stop us, lets whip their ass."
