I used to see them as a kid growing up. Always blue/greenish. Never pink or purple. That's bananas.

Seen the Aurora Borealis a few times growing up in WIS, and 2x got to see the Green Flash at sunrise over Lake Michigan.

Mine is purple, sailor.

I read you see purple in the pictures because cameras can pick up colors the human eye can not see. I've seen red a few times but mostly green and whiteish. Last week I was up at about 2:30 and there were white rays coming up from the northeast and northwest. They kind of merged overhead and formed like a swirl. Really cool.
